Player Watch - Tanguy Ndombele

It's been posted and posted and argued and posted again and argued and posted again.

Remember that one time we were all sharing those with and without Kane stat images and everyone was like "lol we are better without Kane!" when he got injured under Jose and then we proceeded to lose or barely draw basically every game until COVID saved us as the entire squad crumbled as well? That was fun. Context matters.

It's always about context, of course. It wasn't a loaded statement - stats are stats. I don't think it should be underestimated that a team is more than the sum of its parts. We saw against city how good we are with a team full of fighters, as opposed to a team full of talent that don't fight.

Just on the context point, wasn't Son missing/injured for pretty much that same period under Jose? Harry was start of Jan until first week of March, and Son was mid Feb until the end of April.

It said that we offered Lyon a deal where they give us money + Aouar for Ndombele but they didn't want that as wages an issue, however Lyon are keen on a "dry" transfer for Aouar.

No wonder he's called Aouar if we're encouraged to go in dry :bored: ??

Think this article actually says Ndombele + money for Aouar. Alexis Bernard isn't reliable though and if this swap is happening it would be Lyon offering money

10000%. We already owe them money for Ndom. Why would we send them Ndom for Aouar straight and then add even more payments on top of that?

I think he sees our club as a bit of a joke... Since joining it's been a circus. If he does go to Bayern I can imagine him putting in the required effort. He most likely has a hell of an ego on him and he'll feel like he is "somewhere he should be". They'll setup to maximise his talents and he'll shine.

And Aouar is available for like 30m, Ndombele won't leave for less than 50...

It’s got to the stage where I’d swap him for anyone half decent just to get someone in that will actually play, even a part and to get his wages off the books.

Let’s get it right. I love NDombele when he plays, but what can you do?? You can take the horse to water but you can’t force it to drink. I can see him doing a Danny Rose and seeing out his contract. I am hoping that there is still a chance that he will fix up, but that hope is ebbing away by the day.

Basically we're talking to lots of teams about him and two of those teams interest Tanguy the most. The club making the biggest push currently is in Spain

There's a chance he might do an Adebayor - go on loan, play his tits off, get a move and a bigger contract... then relax again.

Real shame that we’re finally going to play the formation that fits him the most and with 2 midfielders that can do most of the hard work.

But I totally understand why nuno is doing this.

If losing the potential of Tanguy means we free up some cash and get in a player who puts in the effort, I do that every time. I don’t think he’ll ever come good here, he just can’t be bothered apparently.

Yeah. I find it all really sad tbh. We finally have a coach who would most likely get the best out of him but seems like he had already made his mind up to leave prior to Nuno being appointed.

Makes sense to swap him for Aouar, or a Lyon player, as we probably still owe Lyon money from when we bought him from there. So clear that down with what Aouar is worth versus what NDombele is worth and remaining to be paid to Lyon.
