We do need goals from wide attack though. We have plenty of players who will make things happen and Werner falls into the same category. The only reason Son has moved to the left has been because he is our only wide scorer and Richarlison started scoring. I'm happy to see how younger players like Kulusevski and Johnson develop but we need someone who is sure to score goals. We've sold Kane and lost 30 goals without filling them between attackers. Neto isn't going to score goals, he's another assist player and a bit flavour of the month based on this season. Either keep Son left and sign a 20 goal centre forward or find another Son for out wide and move Son up top.
Outside of Kulusevki none of our attacking options are creators.

Son, Richarlison, Werner and Johnson will all get goals if provided for but none have that playmaker quality.

I definitely think Neto is the kind of player we need.

He's what a year older than Johnson and only this season has good numbers in terms of assists. Johnson has also been involved in a handful of goals himself. Neto could push on from this season or it could just be a purple patch. Surely we might as well stick with Kulusevski and Johnson who are also young and developing with just as much chance pushing on. We already have young players developing their game but don't seem to have patience before suggesting signing more. If we're signing another it needs to be someone more proven imo.

I’m talking more playing style.
Johnson will run onto balls through and get goals and some assists from making the pass. But he won’t create something from a deep position from nothing.

Neto is more a dribbler in the final third type as well. Kulusevski is more the type who needs to find balls in front of him. I'm not sure how Neto is much different to what we have. We already have a nice combination on the right but they're just young and still developing. We just don't have the patience and you can guarantee the same would be said of Neto as soon as we struggle for a bit. I think we need another in the younger Son mould on the left who can strike the ball and score goals. Not sure we need another, we can't keep signing more players as the answer every time.

Spurs have good players, several of them developing in various ways. The answer isn't always buy, buy. etc.
Playing tactics will develop, and playing form for some players will be regained after various interruptions in recent months.
Having some of our best players recovering from injuries, interruptions, has not helped recently.
But it's hardly a crisis. And there are still Spurs players we have yet to see in action of some duration.

Time will tell. I believe Johnson has a lot of Son’s attributes though his level is yet to be determined.

I believe Neto offers something different and would be a good signing.

I don’t think we’ve been able to see the best of Werner because for one reason or another the players refuse to pass to him when he’s in acres of space . It’s happened numerous times the past couple of home games .

It feels like long balls are forbidden. Same at times with shots from range.

Thrilled for him. Was also nice to see the other players reassure and support him after he didn't score the one-on-one with the keeper. Hope this goal boosts his confidence.

tale of two halves really. tentative, unassertive, unimpactful in the first. disruptive, incisive, active in the second. more of that second half please.

He was far better 2nd half, played more direct, got on it and ran at the fullback. Played some nice cut backs, should have had a penalty but apparently tripping a player isn't a foul for us. The goal should help but there was a clear difference when Son was one on one but he needs to play with instincts so he doesn't have too much time to think about the shot. Same could be said for the likes of Johnson and Richarlison.

I like werner and I think he’s a good squad option, but the difference in my confidence level between a 1:1 for Timo vs one for Sonny is wider than the Grand Canyon

Happy for him and us he scored the goal. Hopefully that’ll boost his confidence. But the difference between him and Son is stark. With Son I’m confident he scores 9 times out of ten bearing down 1 on 1 with the keeper. With Werner it’s more in hope he scores. Like 3-4 out of 10 he’ll score.

This is one of those areas of improvement that when it clicks we will become much more deadly.

Werner made a few cutbacks where either it wasn't executued correctly or no-one read it.

Look at City and Arsenal now, they score so many goals this way because it is just programmed into them.

It also does't matter what the opposition do cause they keep scoring them.

After a shit first half, Werners last 15/20 mins today was his best stint in a Spurs shirt. Completely different animal in the second half.

Loved seeing him get the goal (and Johnson the assist). Delighted for him. He works and works and works.

If he can continue to play like he did in the second half and be involved and find space then i'll be happy for him to stay.

Someone needs to coach some finishing into him, it's embarrassing at times. Other than that he offers something and effects games. I'd only sign him of we can't get better as his finishing so bad.

I think getting a few goals and regaining confidence is the only way he'll improve.
