Ha ha, I picked them because they managed to do what we were discussing over and over again for 2 decades. They did so without breaching hundreds of rules, and every neutral football fan in the country calling them sports washing financially doped cheats. I mentioned the last team other than City won it whilst padding the squad out with average players and I'll also say the team before them in Chelsea the same. In fact every other team ever except for Man City have done this but you've ignored that fact to try and push your point.I picked them because they literally won the premier league for the last 3 years.
You picked Alex Ferguson's man united for absolutely no good reason at all.
Indeed, so if it's not working you have to now question is that down to him or is it down to those around him. I mean if he's doing his job exactly how Ange wants then others clearly aren't, or it would be working seamlessly.Nice. Still don't get this notion that we couldn't win something with him playing where he is for us. He's doing exactly what Ange wants from a player in his role.

I get this and agree that City's deep resources allows it to do things others can't.Ha ha, I picked them because they managed to do what we were discussing over and over again for 2 decades. You're doubling down now, I get it, but there's no point in continuing the conversation if you can't see they are not an example anyone can follow because they've cheated their way into this position, and now the ladder has been pulled up behind them.
Leipzig I'll give you, but Chelsea's decision making isn't something we should be considering here - when Werner was there they won the CL and were crowned the top club in the world.Yet Chelsea got rid of him and his German club are happy to sell at a knock down price (for these days) why ?
All that is true but I can't admire how it's been done I'm afraid. Anyway this is going way off topic. This started with a poster saying average squad players have no place in teams that win things and as such we shouldn't be looking at Werner using City as an example of what we need to do. I'm pointing out Man City is the only team to have this luxury and they've had to cheat, lie and steal to do it and as such every other club need players like Werner. The merits of how we admire or don't admire Man City are definitely not for this thread, and fwiw I do not admire them.I get this and agree that City's deep resources allows it to do things others can't.
However I think there is something to be admired about how City went about this.
They spent their money well and not recklessly (e.g Kovacic)
Laid the foundations for the future in youth training/recruitment.
Cut their losses with senior players if need be (e.g Jovetic..this is probably the hardest thing for a club like ours to do understandably).
Plays a great style of football of consistenty high quality.
Team stays hungry over many seasons.
Sometimes I suppose it is working seamlessly. But when it's not, no I don't think it's on Werner. He's beating his man and getting balls into the right area, and the data now seems to bear that out.Indeed, so if it's not working you have to now question is that down to him or is it down to those around him. A lot of it is a pre determined bias imo, brought with him from his time at Chelsea. Fans need to understand that what is expected at one club or under one manager, is not necessarily what is expected at another club or with a new head coach. Don't get me wrong I'm sure Ange wants his finishing to improve, but at the same time it doesn't mean he isn't thoroughly happy with everything else he does to a point he is still an important player in his team.Sometimes I suppose it is working seamlessly. It's very frustrating the slagging he gets when it's not working and the expectation seems to be for him to cut inside and rifle one top bins or something, despite him not being good at that and clearly being instructed to not even try.
Massively hope we sign him, and hope that we sign him some competition also, and I do think that Ange will be seeing it the same way.
Chelsea replaced him with murdyk… who is just a worse versionLeipzig I'll give you, but Chelsea's decision making isn't something we should be considering here - when Werner was there they won the CL and were crowned the top club in the world.
But now - a billion spent later - they're a mid table side being carried by one player doing dodgy accounting to try and avoid a points deduction.
Chelsea not wanting him has little to no bearing on if he's a good player and fit for us.
As a squad bench option for a small fee he'd be absolutely fine, if we are signing his as next seasons starting left winger then whoever is deciding that has gone mad.I like him. He works hard, has pace to burn and actually shows a brain in build up, that being said, unless he can become a goalscoring threat he is probably just more bloat to an already bloated squad.
Still think we need a gamechanging winger like a Nico Williams but yes Son and Werner as LW options next season would be ok, add a striker in front of Richy and add a Nico Williams level winger for the right side so Johnson becomes a very strong bench/rotation option then we should be cooking nicely.Him and an on form Son on LW is a good starting point provide we can get another striker or fit Richi.
Not so sure about that. That is great and all but also shows that eye test is still more important that stats, Timo has done 'ok' but he can't shoot for toffee and is very wasteful at times, looking at those stats you'd think he's the 2nd coming of peak Ryan Giggs.
Timo could be a game changing winger if we could get someone on the end of his crosses and cut backs.Still think we need a gamechanging winger like a Nico Williams but yes Son and Werner as LW options next season would be ok, add a striker in front of Richy and add a Nico Williams level winger for the right side so Johnson becomes a very strong bench/rotation option then we should be cooking nicely.
