Personally I think he's looked excellent so far

His finishing has been a bit poor, but this is often the case before a striker breaks his duck at a new club and he;s not even been playing full matches so the pressure is amped up in the shorter times he gets to show case himself (and in preseason his finishing was excellent)

He looks strong, quicker than I expected, has great hold up play and has shown an ability to link play well too

I fully expect him to step up in Kane's absence and show exactly why we spent so much money on him to cover/challenge Kane

I've already put 20 quid on him to score 2 or more goals on Wednesday ;)

That's a bit extreme ... unless Christmas comes early this year.

Not really if its ligaments. The Worst thing we could do it rush him back... yes he might be able to run on it in 1-2 months but the slightest tweak and it will go again... most irritating injury to recover from. Feels fine but in reality it really isnt. Look how it basically ended Alex Prichards time with us, also rendered that Gooner twat useless since he broke thru, both who tried to make an early return, flaring up the injury again.

Ankle injuries can be complicated.

On the other hand Vertonghen had a similar injury and seemed to come back within the initial time scale so it really depends.

I just hope Kane is back for our difficult run from end of October onwards.

I wouldn't say it was a clear chance for him - it was a clear chance to play Lamela in.
Agree that it was a clearer chance to put Lamela through than to actually score himself and the chance he had to put Sissoko through to equalise against Monaco when his touch was too heavy have probably drawn the most criticism, on other days he makes the right call and we go 2-0 up against Sunderland, and get a 2-2 draw with Monaco as his through pass is appropriately weighted.
I'm not gonna be too harsh at this early juncture, he has now been given a real chance to prove himself now albeit in circumstances to that appear to have put Kane out with an injury that we all hoped could have been avoided. Encouragement is what is needed, so come on Vincent take this opportunity with both hands, let's not look glass half empty, we have to play with the cards we have available COYS let's show all the critics outside this club that were not too over reliant on Harry Kane.....

Yeah let´s write him off... What good did it ever do us having patience with Bale? No goals, no assists and no presence whatsoever... And then after several years wasted we got nothing for him we we finally had enough and got rid?
And that little Lukafellow should also have been shown the door after 4-5 matches. We bought a playmaker

Since Janssens arrival we have been fighting relegation and there are no signs whatsoever anything will ever work.
Cheer up! We are third, unbeaten and this without hitting form yet!

Kane out? Well that´s why we spent money on Janssen. To cover when Kane is out or needs a rest and to push him.
Is he as good as Kane? Well probably not, but how many are? To write him off in September of his 1st season isn´t anything close to supporting!

To be fair Bale started brilliantly for us and most people forget this because of that run of games without a victory. Three goals in his first four games from left back - he was amazing. Then injury struck.

My prediction is that everyone will shit themselves now Kane is injured and worry Jansen isn't good enough. This will be followed by a great performance against Gillingham, to which he will be hailed as a master signing possibly even ousting Kane from the team (meanwhile forgetting it's fucking Gillingham).

He'll then have a couple of quiet games and be declared not good enough again and everybody can go back to shitting themselves.

My memory might be a bit hazy ... It usually is ... but if I recall Bale made his breakthrough thanks to an injury that meant he had to play for a number of games; Kane stepped up when he suddenly hot a prolonged run in the team; Dele was not originally planned to play at the start of last season but because of numerous injuries he got his chance early. Now I am not saying Janssen will make such an impact but I do think that any player needs a run of at least six st,arts to settle into a team, get match fit etc., so let's hope that this becomes another opportunity for a player to show what he can do .... and the bonus might be that Harrison gets a first team chance

Perfect timing. Hopefully he can bang a couple in against Gillingham and get some confidence ahead of the Premier League games.

I don't normally go out and say things that can come back and haunt me but I will this time. Janssen will be our RVN. The force is strong in this one and my gut feeling is seldom wrong.

As I've said earlier in this thread...his contributions so far have been: missing a few good chances, misplacing a simple pass to Sissoko to put him through on goal, not playing in Lamela for a one-on-one, consistently running 4 yards offside in the CL game against Monaco. He needs to step up a great deal.

Alternatively:
Changing the game vs Everton
Showing fantastic hold-up play and work-rate vs Palace, making him a strong contender for MOTM
And I actually thought he did quite well against Monaco

Yes I really hope Harrison gets a chance, this would be a good opportunity for us to at least see him come off the bench!

I like Janssen and I do not think it is his finishing which has been a problem for him, it is more his decision making.

Off the top of my head, I can only remember him having one chance which he should of buried, and that is when Ali put him through against Palace. The chance he had against Sunderland was not exactly clear cut, as he should have just squared the ball back to Lamela and did Everton's keeper not make a cracking save to deny him?

His decision making in the final stages of our moves has been poor. That Lamela incident being the worst, but also when he smashed the ball through for Sissoko verses Monaco, when he should of just tapped it on. He is desperate to score, a lot more desperate than most new players but I suppose strikers who come from the Dutch league go either one or two ways and the media recognises that and reported it when he signed.

I think he will be a good player for us, and I think he will improve after he gets his goal. Gillingham are an ideal opposition for his situation, but unfortunately you can deffo see the fans getting on his back if he doesn't knock one in soon.
