I might be a massive racist but he reminds of Kante quite a bit - Defensively elite and progresses the ball by moving with it rather than passing it up field after winning it.

I can't think of many better signings we could make than this.

He's about as close to Kante as you can get in the PL IMHO.

Just seen our favourite SA Gunner has posted his thoughts on why Arsenal aren't signing Bissouma:

"We could be letting this go because of Elneny signing on, and Lokonga being around as well."

Yep Arteta and Edu must have thought Bissouma for £25m? nah you are alright mate, we have Elneny and Lokonga.

Talksport reporting the fee is a lot more than the £22M quoted... no mention of the actual amount though. Even with one year left, I'd be happy with c.£30M for him. Easily worth double with a long contract.

£25m for him is crazy cheap. He's a £50m player. But with only a year left. Still think they could get more than £25m.

Even for 30 or 35 we'd still be getting a PL-ready midfielder who's been performing at an elite level. The court stuff aside, this is as low-risk as it comes.

There are a lot of Brighton fans where I live in Sussex and to be honest, they're probably some of the most decent fans out there.
There's still a local, family feel to the club and it's reflected by the fans.
They still appreciate how far they've come from what they were and seem to have a balanced, sensible view of things. Which is pretty rare in the Prem nowadays.
Yeah I've got a Brighton mate who's one of the most reasonable football fans I know. I went down to watch a match at the Amex and was in the singing end - everyone was really friendly and welcoming. Defo my favourite non-Spurs prem club and set of fans.

Fantastic signing. One of the best midfielders in the league outside the top four and for a great fee.

Yeah he's a £50m plus player all day.

Anyone else keep pinching themselves recently?!

I’ve pinched myself so much I know I’m awake, I’m just concerned I’ve woken up in an alternate reality!

Stranger Things upside down in a good way?! ?

Seen that 26m euros is base fee and the addons are bigger.

Biggest beneficiary of this signing IMO is going to be our front 2 or front 3.
Having a Bissouma in lineup, will give more freedom to likes of Eriksen & Kulusevski. Also, Kane can do the damage up top being the no9 (which is what Conte usually wants in his striker), instead of having to do defensive responsibilities

A hint of dembele about the way he glides with the ball past players . Impressive highlights video. Definitely think he will add steel composure and a little flair to our midfield

We are deadly serious for once. Paratici and Conte may well be building a squad worthy of the elite facilities ENIC have built.

So exciting, but still a lot of deals to tie up.

Some more from ArsenalMania - they definitely aren't bitter or desperately trying to cope lol:

"Thats exactly why we've never made a move for Bissouma, as well as having a 50m 200kpw defensive midfielder who's better than him again the club. Let's meltdown when Arteta and Edu neglect the final third for the third consecutive summer as oppose to cover for the DM position."

"Bissouma doesn't start for us and he's not really going to come here to sit on the bench. Aside from that you don't really want to spend £25m on someone who might get done for sexual assault"

"Isn't Bissouma a SUSPECTed rapist ... why would arsenal touch him with a barge pole .. wouldn't want him at club it's bad enough we got a left back that sexually abuses dogs"

"Bissouma is basically a pound shop Partey, plus he has issues (fair or otherwise) associated with him that are “un Arsenal” so this was never going to happen. It could have happened a couple of seasons ago and we would have supported it then, but we now have other more pressing priorities."

"Don't think Partey and Bissouma would be the right midfielder to be fair. And we need to improve the starting 11 in this position, so wouldn't make much sense to spend this money on a back-up." They were dreaming of that pairing for months and now he wouldnt make their team

"Partey, Tielemans, Xhaka, ElNeny and Lokonga is miles clear of Bissouma, Bentencur, Hojberg, Winks and Skipp, don't get it twisted."

Oh the sweet and joyous tears of the fallen :)

This is one of those where I don't really care what the actual fee is. Just a great singing in a position we desperately need it.

Thanks arunspurs for your very reasonable response.

The facts aren't known to anyone at this stage outside of the police investigation. Clearly Bissouma is being very specifically accused by the alleged victim, he remains under investigation after 8 months and has had his bail extended at least three times to my knowledge.

I'm sure the club has taken legal advice and would either feel that after this length of time the chances of the case being prosecuted are very slim or perhaps they can easily put in clauses in his contract which would void it in the event of his being found guilty?

The percentage of reported sexual assaults which go on to be prosecuted is staggeringly small while the vast majority of offences are never reported in the first place. It's extremely hard to prove and is almost always going to come down to his word against hers. I believe that statistically you have a 97.5% chance of getting away with sexual assault.

Amongst the thousands of reported incidents of course there will be cases where the victim is lying. My personal opinion is that they will be in the vast minority. I also believe that for someone to still be under investigation after 8 months means that the police investigating the allegation believe the victim. They are unlikely to have the evidence they need to prosecute if they haven't already done so and so the CPS will almost certainly not take it further.

I don't know if Bissouma is guilty or innocent and he shouldn't face criminal charges without evidence of wrong doing. But probablitistically speaking, I think Bissouma is likely guilty of sexual assault, but he is in virtually no danger of getting prosecuted for it. I was just curious if I was the only person bothered by this. I guess I got my answer from the responses to my post :)
I'm bringing this here...

I think people are taking issue with the fact that you're assuming he's guilty.
Many people, even on here, have been wrongly accused of various things, or know people who have been.

It's far too often taken that a male must be guilty, even though our legal system is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.

My ex wife has twice tried to have me arrested based on nothing but lies and on both occasions, the police initially treated me like a criminal. Even though I had all the evidence to prove my innocence and she had nothing against me.

A close friend of mine was recently falsely accused of sexual assault at work. It dragged on for months before finally being thrown out of court and him being found completely innocent.
He's a late 40's family man and probably the gentlest, kindest person I know, loyal to a fault. He would never, ever sexually assault anyone and I've known him since school.

So yeah, it happens more than you think and us as victims, don't really appreciated the whole "he's probably guilty" vibe that you're giving.
