Because he is more suited to that system than Bissouma and he had a long run of games?
Can only judge on what he's done here. Not writing him off, maybe he'll come good. But safe to say if he'd been putting in the same performances for any other big club and we were then linked for £30m everyone would be furious. Maybe it's literally just the system but I expected more from him.

Um you can judge him by how he has previously played in the premier league for another team under a different system. Why ignore that? Bissouma and Richarlison have had horrible seasons but that doesn't make either of them bad players because they have proven to be very good in the league previously.

It's a different pressure playing for Brighton or Everton compared to a club that's meant to challenge for honours, and regularly has teams sit back and defend against us. Plenty of players who look good as big fish in mid-table, but don't end up doing well when given a chance at the top. Doesn't make them "bad players", does mean I'm not feeling the huge optimism.

Why is everyone suddenly hyped again? I can't remember him having a single good game pre injury
Did you watch him much at Brighton?

People are "getting hyped" again because let's face it, there's not much to look forward to at this time.
I've also seen some people list him as a player to get rid of, which to me seems incredibly harsh.

He's a good player and it's wrong to judge him on an injury ravaged first season, where pretty much none of our players have looked any good.

Has Richarlison proved to be very good in the league previously? He hasn't scored more than 15 goals in a season.

He wasn't a striker and was playing in mid table and relegation threatened sides. But for both Watford and Everton he was one of their main players.

In his defence he was playing for Watford and Everton, where hitting 20+ would be a miracle
Be careful here though. It was said in the transfer thread that that would equate to 20 goals for a better team. Some of us were shot down for even daring to question that and most of our fears about him are unfortunately becoming reality.

I would leave Yves to get himself ready for next season and play Sarr and Skipp with next season in mind too. I'd prefer we didn't get Europe so the manager can work on the training pitch, which is most likely now anyway.

I had a look into strikers, number 9s not wingers/inside forwards, making a move from lower Prem sides to top six sides.

I couldn’t find any evidence of them scoring more at the bigger/better club. It was actually more often the opposite.

Wether it’s Richarlison or Bissouma I think it’s stupid to judge any player on their first season. Espcially when they’ve both suffered injuries and the club has been a mess.

Let’s see how they perform next year.

What have we been challenging for exactly?

Yep. It's the collective logic that sometimes gets passed in here that's just accepted and a million negs to whomever challenges it.

Thing is, you have it the round way round. At Brighton he was in a possession heavy team who played through midfield.

He's come to us with us playing an absolute appalling style of football that most players who enjoy being on ball would struggle with. This season we act like a cup underdog even against shit teams. It's us who sit back. See relegation threatened Bournmouth at home no more than 2 weeks ago.

Just didn't suit Conte's system at all.

The CMs had to be so disciplined in terms of distances from each other.

Lo Celso, Bissouma and Bentancur in a high energy high pressing posession based system could work very well.

Lo Celso is another who's not been used properly at all.

Ndombele needs to go because of his fitness and attitude but if we want to play nice pass and move football Lo Celso could certainly have some use.
Glad that so many agree with this, I'm really excited about the potential of Bissouma if used correctly next season and think Lo Celso could also save us having to buy tons more CM's, I remember one game under Jose where Lo Celso absolutely ran the show his passing and moving and his dribbling were a joy to watch, proper Spurs type player if used correctly, him, Bissouma and Bentancur in a 3 with someone like Maddison being signed for competion and rotation would be silkysmooth to watch.

Bissouma would provide the physicality and quality on the ball, Bentancur is no wallflower and also a lovely passer of the ball and can carry it well too and then Lo Celso and Maddison type would be more the quicker pass and move and creative link up type, would be a joy to watch imo and most the managers we are being linked with like Nagelsman and Slot or even someone like Enrique or Rodgers could work wonders with these types of player.
