For a team that is trying to play regular CL football, playing even one match in the EL is a disappointment.

I know you see winning trophies as glorious but that’s not true for the EL unless you sadly find yourself in that tournament, playing midtable EPL teams on a Thursday night. Its far better to be getting to the knockout stages of the CL, playing the worlds most prestigious tournament. That’s the reality.

If you’re talking about club mentalities then you don’t find Bayern or Juve fans saying - god I wish I could be winning the EL rather than getting to these Quarters, Semis and Finals.

Of course there’s a big difference - they’re cleaning up in their (weaker) domestic leagues. And I would LOVE us to seriously challenge for the EPL. But I dont see anyone seriously suggest Mourinho would have us challenging for the league.

No the question was
“Would you take season with Mou, ended at 5th and won Europa League or season with Poch, ended at 4th and CL Final with matches against Ajax and City?”

I wouldn’t take a season with Mou unless i thought it might end in a serious bit of silverware. I don’t care about second tier competitions. Winning second tier competitions is not ambition - it’s a byproduct of aiming for success in the top comps.
Fair enough and although those matches you mention rank up there with some of my finest Spurs moment, winning the EL would provide a pretty good one too.
Yeah, the Europa and League Cup aren't as great as the CL or FA Cup but any cup winning final day is a fantastic day, providing fantastic memories.
I'd rather that, than the current memories of the CL final.

Yes but we're not fucking Madrid, are we? ?

Do you not think we have the players to score lots of goals?

Let's see. Do you think two time golden boot winner Harry Kane is a capable of scoring goals?
Do you think Son with 45 league goals, mainly from wide is capable of scoring goals?
What about 16 goals in the Spanish league Giovani Lo Celso?
Or 45 League goal Dele Alli?
Start playing to their strengths again and I have a feeling we might be ok.

Just thought I'd have a look online at a few polls and the majority of fans want posh to keep his job. The Fighting Cock on Twitter from 1,200 people is 75% keep to 25% sack. On the Evening Standard its 66% keep to 34% sack. Thats only 2 polls but he seems to still have the backing of most of the fans.

I don't know what to say really about that.
It's baffling.

What did you say at Man Utd that made you think Mourinho could do that ?

Will be interesting to see when the tipping point is. Despite what some are saying I don’t see us dropping into the bottom 3 simply because I can’t see the teams down there putting any type of run together, however small.

So, would the majority of fans be happy for us to be 14th/15th through Xmas?

Smalling, Jones, Ashley Young, Fellani, Mkhitaryan, Blind. An aging Schweinsteiger, Depay who couldn't handle the league... Stuffed to the gills with talent.

Am quite sure his Inter team did ok as did Chelsea. Scoring lots of goals along the way.

This all day...I am trying to forget we played our part in what is held as the worse CL final of all time...

Exactly, 2 full Mourinhos seasons average 61 goal scored. For comparison Tottenham scored 80. Add to that no one improved much in his squad, fucked up dressing room etc. FANTASTIC MANAGER, REAL WINNER

I can’t believe that anyone would take a series of uneventful wins against sides that would be mid table in the EPL over some of the most pulsating games we’ve seen and a run to the champions league final !

If the two competitions were equal in stature then I could understand some people swapping the drama and fun for a win. But this is like swapping a World Cup final for winning the nations league.

Ooh baby it’s a wide world

There’s not really much to argue here as it’s all opinions and yours is one that I can’t see myself changing.

I loved our trip to the final last year but I would love our club winning a major trophy even more. Oh and yes I do count the Europa as a major trophy.

I’m 99% sure our players would agree with me aswell. The club, who knows? I guess they just want the most amount of revenue.

Well he is actually a winner. You can't take that away from him. It's fine not to like him and believe me I understand. But a winner he is at the end of the day.

If mourinho comes, I’m officially on a break from football until he’s gone again. I’m disenchanted with the game as a whole anyway and I can’t stand that man and want no association with him

I’ll have a pint waiting for you at the final you tart xx

Lol Conveniently missing zlantan, rashford, martial , Sanchez, pogba, Lukaku, Lingard, Mata

302 MILLION NET SPEND in 3 seasons and didn't come close to winning the league . But he won the European Johnstone paint trophy in a season when the biggest competition was the Ajax babies.
A couple of second tier trophies with the biggest club in the world
But I'm sure he'll have us competing with Liverpool

This new wave of mourhino fans are funny and terrifying at the same time.
He's finished in this country , he's model will never come close to winning anything other than a cup pool or city don't care about.

Thankfully I'm somewhat confident levy isn't a idiot

Unsure whether this is satire or delusional. If it's satire, it's really, really good. If it's delusional...
No, it must be satire. Mustn't it?

But here is the question.

Look at where United are now.

2 years of Jose, some trophies but money wasted and back to where they were before he got there a year after he left..

I guess in the short term, a couple of trophies would be very gratifying, but history also shows us we will just be back in exactly the same place we are now albeit with some silverware.

I've said before I would be willing to give Jose a chance but as certain as people are he would bring trophies, you would have to be certain that when he leaves, we wont exactly be in a better place.

People always seem to forget Zlatan. He scored a lot of goals for Jose.

Yeah, but Spurs have won what in the same time?

Can you remember one decent thing we did in the CL final against Liverpool, because I fucking can't and besides that we haven't sniffed a pot at any level.

Rail on Mourinho all you want, everyone has an opinion, but running his achievements down because of money or stature of club is fucking laughable.

I'm not fan of JM either, for the record, I just dislike this attitude of thumbing noses at managers who have been successful (depending on what peoples view of successful is ... Guessing winning stuff, could be wrong though)

You are correct, and I think I've also been stating the same thing myself in the next manager thread.
Mourinho would come in, would probably leave after a couple of seasons, would probably not better the club but might just add to the trophy cabinet if he can win over the right present players.
And right now; I'd take that scenario. It's not really like I've become this great Mourinho fan. I just really believe that his sort of personality is a good fit for right here and now.
Anyone to me, anyone, besides a new fucking project manager.
