We won't take it seriously enough to win it, and if we continue to play like we are playing now then we won't get through the next round anyway.

The only reason we could consider doing it is to give the likes of Winks, Onomah, Edwards, Walkes, CCV, KWP some more game time.

In sum I won't be too bothered either way.

have to win it to make up of the embarrassment of losing in a fairly winnable champions league group. We need silverware and this will get us back in the champions league anyway and with a trophy. As a champions league dropout we need to show europe we mean business, we have struggled in europe under poch Iin my opinion, Even under Jol i felt we could turn teams over more in europe...

You telling me that if we got to the final of the EL and even won it people wouldn't care? Yeah, alright. Silverware is silverware and improving any chance in Europe improves us from both a playing and a commercial standpoint. The teams in the knock out phase of the EL are of a high quality (mostly), so yes I would love for us to finish 3rd and have a chance in the EL.

I think most of us would agree if we thought that we'd take it seriously.

But we won't.

So we don't.

At no point should they ever step on to a pitch not caring if they win lose or draw. Win at Wembley, go in to the Europa League intending to win that too. Introduce a losing mentality at any point and we're in footballing limbo for all time.

Saw this coming, really. Before the CL started I stated that I wished for CL progression (stating the obvious), but failing that would be excited to skip the group stage in EL and go straight into the knock outs. That's still true for me, I'd love some EL footie. The only way to repair heartbreak is to put yourself up for even more failure.

Let's get the hell out especially if we have to play the 'home' leg at the national stadium monstrosity

Seriously, how can a top side compete on many fronts with 1 striker? We did try to address this somewhat in the summer but unfortunately as yet we are still in exactly the same situation as we were

Get out of Europe and concentrate on league and FA cup and manage on a game by game basis

Who knows we might get lucky with our FA Cup draws and if we can get our squad fit again then there is no reason why we can't get to the semi or even final before we lose at Wembley again :)

If it turns out we end up in the Europa then I hope we don't just piss it away. I dont mind some rotation but that side last night would have been beaten against half the sides in the competition.

I'd love to win any trophy and the Europa is taken seriously by many other countries and ours seem to be the only one that sees it as a joke.

Whilst both competitions have been devalued, I'd rather we fucked off the FA cup in favour of the Europa league. If nothing else, it gives us an extra opportunity to enter the CL next season (so we can give our first team a rest )

Football is about winning trophies, I've seen us win 3 in my lifetime. Go for it all guns blazing I say. I don't buy into the can't play 2 games a week rubbish, if we want to be a top team, that's what top teams do.

Oh and I don't buy into the Wembley thing either, bigger pitch bla bla, it's a lame excuse, we just wasn't good enough. We manage to win away games on different size pitches.
If anything they should be inspired to play at Wembley.

I say skip the EL and learn from this CL debacle. Even if we make it to the EL we are still going to play this turgid, ineffective brand of football that has somehow left us unbeaten in the League.

That cannot last forever, we are already being found out by midtable teams. Poch needs to go back to drawing board and adjust his philosophy and get the players back on board.

I say with the week of preparation that comes from no EL distraction, Poch should look to bring back the press and hopefully a more attacking play style.

Why are Liverpool and Chelsea top. Anything to do with only playing 1 game a week you reckon?

How about Leicester being top in there CL group and 1 point off relegation in the league. Anything to do with them keeping Mahrez & Vardy etc on the bench or taking them off early in most of there league games?

Seriously anybody who still thinks European football has no effect on league form (and these players can play 2 high intensity games a week ie playing our best XI game after game after game and it has no affect) must be on medication or think Trump and Farage are not part of the Elite

bill Nicholson said in the 70s that if spurs were in Europe they were a cut above the teams that were not in Europe
I paraphrase but if not in Europe we are nothing
to the rest of Europe the eufa cup is important it is only the arrogant English that demean the eufa cup
whilst it does put xtra problems on challenging for the league it also forces clubs to improve there squads if they want to compete on two levels
I say bring it on as it is more expierence fr our young squad
beating wolves;anderlect gave me two of the most memorable moments in my support of spurs
in the case of wolves two matches

Once bitten twice shy...

I think we've been conditioned into not giving a fuck about this competition, from the little care the organisers show in putting it Thursday night and not allowing teams to move games to Monday to have a proper rest for their more prestigious leagues. To managers/TV/Pundits/Players/fans all talking Champions' League or nothing, to little known clubs with often near empty stadiums at the arse end of Europe.

Then there are the times where we (the fans) have got ourselves up for it only to be let down by numerous factors (refs, players, team selection, policing)

If we try to get into it then lets have a fucking go at winning it and not just worrying about a few extra £'s in the coffers.

We need some confidence and form from somewhere so these extra games could be a blessing.

I'm not saying it doesn't effect them, just that top teams/players cope with two games a week and if that is what we are aspiring to be then we need to too. Farage and Trump! I'm talking football mate!

We've been dreadful in Europe since the Redknapp CL. We're a competitive club in England but not in Europe. We've been the most underperforming side in the CL this year and quite frankly embarrassed ourselves. I'm now leaning towards taking it seriously just to regain some pride. I'd take winning it over any league finish below 1st, and even getting to the quarter final would at least be exciting being couple of games from final.

The biggest reason though why I'd take it seriously is we have to learn how to balance European football with the league. We blame Thursday/Sunday stuff but we simply haven't coped with playing in Europe and not letting it impact league performance.
We will never be a successful club if we don't learn how to perform in both Europe and the league. We're currently stuck in a situation where we only can get top 4 if not in Europe or sack it off, and if have to sack it off or get knocked out to repeat the getting into it there is literally no point being in Europe.

Success breeds confidence which in turn breeds success, we will also look far more attractive to other players and build the profile of the club by competing in Europe and always playing to win.

Not wanting to be in Europe is such a defeatest attitude, I want us to play the best teams and beat them.

If for nothing else then simply to build our team coefficient and make sure that we don't end up in pot 3 of next seasons CL draw.

Don't think it will be an option. If we carry on playing as we have been we won't get past CSKA.
Though it would be beneficial to actually win a game at Wembley and get that monkey off our back as we have a whole season to play there next year.
