I kind of wish if Ndombele was part of this brutal training session. It could be the right kick up his arse that takes his career back on track.

did you even bother to watch the session? there was hardly anything particularly special or revelatory about it

"Spurs finish their session with a long run" oh no, Conte's super secret methods exposed!
Yes.

There was a whole 20 plus minutes done on shape and Conte's pattern of play. That's a very significant drill.

I doubt this is the first time that Conte has put them through something like this and I'm sure Ndombele didn't acquit himself well, which is why he was shipped out in January and left at home for this.

Incoming 84 rounds of running for Kulu tomorrow

haha - fuck I bet he is on edge thinking whether theyre gonna make him do the 45 in addition to any other drills. The coaches have a log with the running totals.

He wanted to leave after one day of Poch preseason. There’s no way he’d have done those runs. But that’s why Conte wants rid. He doesn’t want anyone to rock the boat and have a bad attitude. He knows once one does it it can creep in like wildfire.

When last lap was announced, Dier sees players near dead....then starts clapping & cheering at the crowd to get their support. That starts a huge roar and cheering. Other players get that final bit of energy to complete the session.

That was lovely from Dier and equally from Seoul crowd - who I have to say been incredible. I dont think there will be many more open training sessions - but its really good idea to do this on day 1 to use the crowd and get the team going

Is there any chance this brutal cardio could have some negative implications for the players? I’ve seen that our fitness coach is nicknamed the ‘marine’ and has been coaching for decades. Are we employing potentially archaic methods or is this what all clubs do these day?. Genuinely wondering.

I don't think it's archaic, over the period of a season you don't get any other chance to build up base conditioning for fitness.

The players have to put the hard yards in now, it allows them better recovery time throughout the rest of the season, and should in theory mean less chance of niggling injuries.

I reckon most teams do similar over the first couple of weeks back to preseason, it's just ours was being highlighted due to the live stream.

In terms of attitude sure but I'm not sure great fitness levels are really required that much for the 5 minutes he'll likely get at the end of a match
Maybe, but there were loads of matches where we had to manage things for a much larger part of the game - having someone up top that can press relentlessly for thirty minutes could be useful.

I’d heard somewhere that on the first day back Ndombele refused to finish a training run. If it was anything like the session in Seoul today I can find that believable.

This is true but even elite level athletes like Kipchoge etc. who run 100km to 140km per week will only do 20% of their workload at a high heart rate. So yes its good to a point.
Absolutely, that’s why I think it’s not something you’d do all seaosn long as your bang on, physically it’s not actually tooo beneficial but on the mental aspect it’s excellent

Nice catch. Do you have a link?

Never mind. Found it. But can't hear a thing? Did you see something different?

Sure even in contes absence the pre season was the same for all. Even those that didn’t travel.
