I want Europa League, I will never turn my nose up on a European competition. It would be far weirder to not see Tottenham in either CL or El than to be back in the Thursday night club. At its best, EL can offer some moderately interesting opponents, some very good away trips after the group stage (if fans are allowed back into the stadiums), a fairly prestigious trophy and a possible path into CL. I fail to see how all of that is not a good thing.

I also want Europa League next season.

Unless we fail to qualify......in which case I’ll be thrilled that we can concentrate on domestic glory. :cautious:

I’m with you on that, and a manager who will go all out to win it

I'm 100% with you.

Cheap night under the lights, a great chance to see some fringe/young players get an opportunity, and for Jose to experiment a bit (at least before it gets to the latter stages).
I still remember when we returned to Europe under Jol, how great the atmosphere was, and how glad we were to be back. No-one cared that it was the Europa then.

You compete at the level you're at and that's where we currently are so we shouldn't be turning our noses up at it.

Assuming that Chelsea don't come from behind to win, I reckon the best results on sunday - with us winning at Palace - will be a Chelsea-Wolves draw and Leicester beating Man Utd.

So we would be sixth and in the Europa group stage and Chelsea would miss out on the CL.

I think Chelsea will spend irregardless. I’d rather run into Leicester and/or Wolves in Europa than Chelsea. I also think Leicester could be competing in the same player market as us this summer and them having CL could give them an upper hand.

Honestly though, I don’t mind what happens as long as we’re in Europe. It is always nice to see Chelsea smacked around though.

London will always have the upper hand to Leicester to prospective players.

Are you sure that’s right? A Chelsea draw puts them in CL surely? Man Utd would miss out in the scenario you mention.

I want Chelsea and United in the CL personally. They'll spend money regardless, won't really affect them getting who they want signing wise and it'll make the EL much easier to win if the only other english sides in the EL are Leicester and Wolves. The only teams then to fear would be potential CL drop outs.

Yep. You're right. My bad.

For my ideal scenario of Chelsea missing out on the CL, Wolves would have to beat them. Which would mean that we would be seventh, so we would either have to play in the Europa qualifying round or miss out altogether if the Goons win the cup.

Bollocks.

So in the end we may of only been one more win away from getting CL. Fucking annoying.

Devastatingly true. Had we just turned up against Bournemouth we would be on 60 and reliant upon Wolves and Man UTD winning.
Now we have to hope that Chelsea turn up against Wolves in a bid to cement their 4th spot. They could still reclaim third if Leicester beat UTD too.

I have watched Spurs play twice in Greece thanks to the Europa League. More of the same, please.

Regardless of what happens Jose deserves credit that we’re in the hunt for any European spot on the final day, we were 14th when he took over.

Absolutely. We we’re 12 points behind Leicester and Chelsea (though gifted them another 6 in subsequent matches) at the time.

I can see the reasoning, but Leicester are still Leicester and may actually fuck off back into mid table obscurity next season anyway, CL or not.

Chelsea and Utd are the clubs we compete with every year, and a CL shaped hole in your finances will hurt any club.

Chelsea and Man Utd dont have finances. They have a big bag of money that never runs out.

No way Chelsea won't win one of either Wolves, or Goons in the FA Cup final.

We just need to beat Palace and we get EL either way.
