I wonder whether when Gilbo's eligible, Chimbo will slot in beside Woody.

Hutton Chimbonda Woodgate Gilberto

We have so much cover/versatility (and thus competition) now at the back.

LB: Lee, (Bale-INJURED), Gunter, Gilberto, (O'Hara-cant play left back), (Chimbonda-will leave at end of this season), (Berchiche-too young), (BAE-injured for ages)

RB: (Chimbonda-will leave end of season), Hutton, Gunter, Tainio, Zokora

CB: (King-always injured/careers over), Woodgate, (Dawson-not good enough), (Kaboul-natural position is DM shouldnt play at CB), (Rocha-injured/not good enough), Huddlestone, (Chimbonda-leaving at end of season), Zokora

What defensive crisis??!

not really a defensive crisis, but we def need a new CB in the summer. we have some many damn INJURIES!

You make that sound like Lee doesn't normally play on the left... and is backup to Bale.

Hmm may have sounded like that. Well Bale was being played ahead of Lee (at LB or LW ) when he was fit at the start of the season.

Anyway, point is merely that Lee can't play in two positions at the same time and so it would have been Gunter.

Of course, now that we know the Gilberto deal also went through before midnight then it's more a case of Hutton was THAT good that we wanted to get him in before his value soared and Manure, Scum or Scum2 got in on the act

one thing while the hutton subject is being raised - there's the usual debate on 606 about why did Hutt go to a smaller club blah blah blah

a point I haven't seen made though is surely regardless of who has the most fans - Hutton will actually be seen by more people playiing for Spurs than Rangers cos of worldwide prem coverage - not just of the games on Sky TV (UK) but the rest that goes out on various satellites computer streams etc
Smaller club, bigger league, so bigger matches, bigger challenge etc.

Rangers are only a big club because the scottish league is so shit. They do OK in Europe but I doubt they could compete week in/week out in the Premiership.

well I think the fact we're in a bigger league and I suspect watched by more people in a season than Rangers given the prem's global reach means the 'smaller club' tag becomes controversial - we have more income too and better players

TBH I don't care whether Rangers are bigger than us or not - however I think there are so many criteria to consider - that's my point and the TV audience is something to consider

Rangers fans go on about their higher attendances - but really the millions of TV & computer viewers dwarf any live attendance

Ranger's are a bigger supported club than us and I suspect far more people tune in worldwide to watch them then ever do to watch us, but they play in a crap league, have poorer players and generally play at level beneath us.

Well!

With the team we've got the now we'd be lower mid-table AT BEST, though I reckon if we got £30m a season TV money instead of £1m, we'd be able to afford somewhat better players so it's a moot point. That we manage to stay in the top 20 "Football rich list" with such crappy TV income and near the top in retail income (2nd in the UK to Man U before Arsenal opened that shopping mall stadium thing) despite being in such an unmarketable league points to us being quite a big club I reckon!

Not that you lot aren't big either, I was glad Hutton went to yous rather than a Villa or Blackburn :)bang:) as that would have been embarrassing.

Not sure what Juande meant by that really, but PC hasn't been very solid defencively IMO. Played well against Manure though.

no. rangers are one of the biggest supported clubs worldwide. Thats the only reason why we can still compete (to a certain extent) in europe despite getting no money from such a shit league.

EPL is by far bigger and does get seen ALOT more than the SPhell, but rangers games are shown live worldwide in supporters clubs in every random place on the planet.

Rangers and Celtic do have a larger worldwide support base than us, although ours is fairly decent and I've met Spurs supporters all over the world, but they have it for all the wrong reasons, religious bigotry, no thanks. Take that away, and your looking at a pair of run of the mill football clubs, say a little larger than Hearts and Hibs.

rangers and celtic are hugely supported worldwide. Only the likes of Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barca and Inter have bigger numbers. And you're way off the mark with the religious bigotry comment mate. Yeah, its a problem in the west of scotland (though nowhere near as bad as the media will lead you to believe) and Norn Ireland, but outside of that its not really much of an issue. Dont get me wrong, i know spurs are a big team, but in terms of fanbase, they aint close to the Old Firm. Not many are.

Maybe Ramos has been speaking to his coaches Gus, Carl. and Stophe...

Think Chimbo will be gone in the summer - I actually rate him but think Hutton is better and reckon Chimbo will go as soon as someone takes an interest in him and, dare I say it, offers him money moola...!!!

Then Hutton can take the no. 2 shirt as prefer players to wear 1-11 when possible!
