Jose fucked this, but not entirely because the setup was defensive.

The biggest fuck up was leaving Davies to deal with Traore all by himself after Reguilon was taken off. Davies had an absolutely torrid time that last half hour, dealt with a lot of it pretty well to be fair, and it culminates in him dropping his guard and losing Saiss for the corner because he was absolutely rattled by then.

Ndombele was excellent and a clear MOTM.

NDombele man of the match by a country mile, however, I'm not rating players. This isn't their fault. This is Jose. He needs to own this shit.

JM 0 - why, why, why does he not want to keep the fcuking ball. We are 1-0 up after 60 seconds and he won't keep the ball. Mentally this will be draining. Think of it as having to the corner flag to kill time or to retain possession to give defence a break.... Our defence got no break. Our midfield got no break. Our attackers are coming to the halfway line to get the ball. We have made the job for the opposition easier by condensing the pitch when we have the ball.

Horrible to watch, I can only imagine how horrible it is to play in.

Unpopular but son and Kane offered almost nothing tonight.
It’s either winks or sissoko- but not both.
This was a game to test Ndombele over 90 mins - his ability on the ball was the difference.
I think dele as a direct replacement was the adventurous substitution to kill the game if you had to take tanguy off, especially after giving him a bollocking after the Stoke game.

This unambitious, defend deep bullshit is unacceptable. With modern rules and VAR you cannot defend the edge of your area for 90 minutes. His Porto / Chelsea / Madrid / Inter teams would have won the square root of fuck all with the current handball / VAR rules with zero contact allowed. The sad thing is everyone could see their goal coming. We are a joke as neutrals hate our negative, anti-football and laugh at us when it backfires. I don’t think anyone enjoyed watching that.

Bergwijn is a 27m player who ripped it up in Holland.
GLC is a 40/50m player who carried us through the end of last season and is now struggling with injuries.
Hojbjerg is a top 6 level DM.
Reguilon is a Europa League winning FB from Real Madrid worth >40m.
Dele is out of form but has pedigree as a prem midfielder who can score 15 goals a season.

I accept that we've a lot of very agerage players too (Winks, Sissoko, Lucas, Davies, Sanchez etc) but our first team should be capable of going at least toe to toe with every team in the league bar Liverpool or City. We're certainly better than Wolves or Palace, yet they both outplayed us for large periods of our games with them recently.
