Some utter Toby’s getting riled up about this on social media, Ian Wright getting the usual flack again. Imagine getting worked up over a shite show in the first place.

When did 'Toby' become a negative connotation?

Who to replace them though?

I never watched Soccer Saturday for the detailed analysis (there wasn't much) - it was more just to be kept updated on the footy with a little bit of light hearted humour/'banter' that was the appeal.

Maybe Jenas and Higginbotham as they are still young-ish in pundit terms and give decent analysis - and then Michah Richards for a bit of humour.

Would love to see Dawson on it one day after he got overly excited reporting on a Spurs game.

I think i'm in a minority - I find Alex Scott dull.
Micah is a great shout, I listened to him on Joe Hart's podcast (i'm eyerolling at myself) and I really enjoyed listening to his perspective

I'd like for Sky to look beyond the ex-pros, I get a lot more out of listening to e.g. Honigstein, Horncastle and Michael Cox than I get out of listening to an ex-pro who's done a mimimal amount of research beforehand and has the articulation of someone who's challenged for too many headers in their day.

But it's Sky so of course they'll just shove another ex-pro in there who gets five minutes of on-camera training and then gets thrown in the deep end.

Serious question - no malice intended - do you rate women pundits?
You're allowed to find Alex Scott boring, but why does her gender matter?

There are good male pundits, but there are a lot more bad male pundits. The sample size of female pundits is much smaller but there will also be some good and some (more) bad female pundits.

I have never watched Alex Scott on anything as I live in Norway, but our on screen team for the CL final was eight men and three women. We've done shows in the EL where all three in the studio, one presenter and two pundits, were women and nobody batted an eyelid because they're good at their job.

Alex Scott may well be bad at her job, but it isn't because she's a woman.

Who actually sits and watches Soccer Saturday anymore though? In this day and age there's so many ways to watch football, why watch people watching the match?

Problem with that though is they cant really offer any level of insight...might as well just start employing fans.

I've got no issue with Alex Scott, I honestly cannot stand Rachel Brown-Finnis though she's garbage.

People who don't want to break the law perhaps?

I don't think I have ever said that she's boring. In my opinion she isn't insightful in the slightest.

You're absolutely right, men pundits can be just as bad at their jobs as women pundits.

It's all about personal preference at the end of the day.

If you gave me the choice of listening to either a terrible male pundit or a terrible women pundit then I would choose a male pundit purely on the fact that they have played men's professional football before. Men's professional football and women's professional football are completely different.

I would also think exactly the same if women's netball coverage had male pundits. The women pundits would be best qualified to offer their expertise as they have played the sport professionally.

This is at the heart of the debate of fair representation in the media and seems to be what gets most people's backs up.

Personally, I think female pundits deserve a fair shot to cover the men's game. Yes it's not the same level, but it is the same sport, and there's no good reason why people should be excluded from talking about a sport on TV based on their gender in 2020.

I've worked in broadcasting for a decade and that might be the reason why I think ex-players' insight is massively overrated. Especially the guys who haven't been players this side of the millenium, what do they know of dressing room culture and training today that can't be told better by an articulate journalist with the right contacts who does their research?

I watch it because I like the format. Best way to get the scores as they happen in my opinion. Also I think Jeff Stelling is a class act.
The show needed a change around though. Id like to see (unpopular opinion coming) Ian Wright brought in.

I agree but I don't know how you can account for the numbers involved and qualified for role being unequal and then have an equal outcome. Not sure if that makes sense to everyone but it does to me ;-)
