But it still shows the player holds all the cards.
At that moment, he walked into Mourinho's office, listened to him, didn't like what he had to say, basically told him he was asking for a transfer and in effect within 2 weeks was out of the club and started playing regular football again.
Seriously if that isn't showing you that the players hold all the cards, then really I don't know what can, and he will still go on a free at the end of this season, and pick up big signing on bonus and high wages when he goes.
Are the cameras going to be filming this year as well? I hope not! Need to let the players concentrate on their football and not wondering if a camera is going to pick up something they say/do!
Pretty much agree with the entirety of this.Rose made some fair points, such as how can he be at his best if he only plays once a month, but he seemed to implode at the end. Jose didn’t say anything particularly bad but for Rose to get up and walk out saying he’ll speak to Levy was the wrong thing to do. His attitude towards Jose was too aggressive from the off. To walk in and start with ‘I want to know what the problem is’ wasn’t the best way to start an unplanned meeting with the boss. Nothing wrong with being honest, but he could’ve said exactly the same stuff (apart from his opening line) just in a different manner and that meeting would’ve turned out a lot differently imo.
The part that annoyed me the most though was when he said he’d train at home if he wasn’t going to play him. Talk about the last thing a manager wants to hear. How different would it have been if he said ‘I want to fight for my place, tell me what I need to do’ or something along those lines. The documentary took the piss a bit because straight after him saying he’s going to see Levy, the next scene is Levy basically saying no good clubs want him.
Rose is our best left back we’ve had in donkey’s years and I really hope he has a successful end to his career somewhere. For those saying we should’ve sold him when he was at his best a few years back, there would’ve been even more outrage at us selling our best players again. Shit happens and while he’s been too outspoken at times, he’s been a great servant for us.
Other items of note:
Lloris is a leader. I think he’s even more of a leader since Jose has come in.
Love the random shit like Dele asking top 3 favourite chocolate bars.
Tanganga reminds me of a young Forrest Whittaker, which isn’t a great footballing compliment but factual nonetheless. A great footballing compliment would be that his style reminds me a little of a young Ledley.
I agree that Hitchen doesn’t appear very personable but as long as he can do his job then that’s fine by me - unless his job means actually meeting our new signings face to face in January because that’s his grumpy shitarse month.
I like Levy. Sometimes he’s a bit David Brent-ish but I’m pretty sure most chairman will be the same, especially when they’re talking about football. But to be fair, he’s seen pretty much every game we’ve played home and away for the last 20 odd years, so he will have some genuine fan knowledge.
Overall really enjoying this. Episode 7 will be awful but still interesting I’m sure.
I know some of our football was dire this season and it will be in games to come next season but he has his style and he isn’t going to change. But when I was watching the documentary, it was clear that right up until Son got injured, we were winning lots of games and I’m 100% certain we’d have qualified for CL if Kane or Son or both stayed fit. We also became a lot harder to beat as the season went on, especially post lockdown. If we manage to keep our injury list down then I have weird high hopes for next season. I wish they were filming next year too, year ending in 1 and all that....
Can’t wait for 4 hours sleep next Sunday night/Monday morning again.
Yeah that was that bit that sent alarm bells off for me - probably a poor choice of words from him, but saying you can’t plan for it (as head of recruitment) is ridiculous!
