Don't get me wrong, I so wish we signed one of bruno or van de beek instead of both lo celso and ndombele. Poch seemed to like players who are nice and not much leadership ability on their own whereas both bruno and vdb allegedly more vocal and leaders on their own right .... We seemed to neglect this aspect from scouting a player during poch's reign ...

He likes younger players who don’t challenge his authority. As soon as they’ve got older it no doubt caused problems, hence the painful rebuild comments. Mourinho with his experience and personality wants people to challenge him.

Is he as good as hojberg or kane in terms of leadership ability?
Absolouelty no where near which is why Jose laughed when JC said that MS is a ‘leader’ in the dressing room he was thinking fuck me if they see him as a leader I can see why this group is too nice and doesn’t win anything , which is also why he’s bough the likes of PEH, Hart etc to get some actual leaders proper strong shouty men.

Watched the first two and initially, two things stood out for me

"not one time when I play against you did anyone abuse me in the tunnel"

Sums us up, right there.

Also, Dier and Dele. Mourinho picked up straight away that they haven't been playing as well as they can, injuries permitting, I think they could have very influential seasons for us.
Spot on! And how Jose talks up Wolves so much and you see the footage of all their players smashing into ours and how Jose says that Wolves are so physical and the game is never over against them etc etc, this is because Nuno is the coach who surprise surprise... used to be a player under Jose at Porto so he’s instilled that mentality and physicality and bastardlike attitude in the Wolves team and that is what Jose wants us to be like, I like it. For too long we’ve been too soft and nice as a club and lacked leaders on and off the pitch, that changes now, time to suck up a bit of pragmatic football and to watch a team of intelligence **** who might actually be able to get over the line and win something.

Our team is far far too nice and Sissoko being seen a leader type sums that up. Jose is going to slowly sort us out. PEH and Joe Hart great signings to inject some bastard like tendencies into our squad.

Not sure I want to watch this or not
I just don’t get why if someone is a die hard fan of their club would they not want to watch behind the scenes footage of their club, for me and for most it’s an absolute dream come true. Sure it’s going to be slightly edited and scripted to make it seem more interesting or dramatic for the purpose of the show but to see the team training, to see and hear Jose’s tactics and team talks and 1-2-1 talks with players in his office and with Levy etc etc why on earth would any proper Tottenham fan NOT want to watch that? Mind boggles.

Thankfully (for us) this show is taking the club sanctioned approached to documentary making. You can tell nothing will have gone out without Levy signing it off.

So far it could have been written by Mourinho's agent as it makes him look like a god. Be interesting to see the next few epsiodes though where the wheels come off. It had given me more faith for next season as its clear Jose knows what he is on about and I loved the way he went about his first week at the club.

It's clearly nowhere near as good as the Netflix Sunderland documentary but that's good because that one is pure misery porn and I'm not sure I could bear to see that happen to us.

There is definitely some interesting moments and insight to this though, well worth a watch I thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 episodes.

My take aways from the first 3 episodes are as follows

1- For the first time I genuinely felt the Poch sacking was the right thing to do watching the first few mins and the fact that everyone looked like they "checked out". Could have been clever editing but it just looked like noone was ready to kick on again.

2- Jose isn't as angry as I thought he would be. You can see why some players love him and others don't.

3- Kane's team talks are about as shit as mine on Football Manager but with added "FUCKING" thrown in.
They’re really not shit. They’re passionate and to the point that’s all they need to be. He’s our only proper leader in the squad. What do you expect him to do reciete gladiator film before every match?

No i don't but come on they are shit aren't they? Be objective. I love Kane as much as anyone but telling them to go out and fucking win and fucking get 3 points let's fucking go isn't exactly inspirational.

Anyone else gutted there are only 9 eps? Could spend the whole of today watching the stuff even if it is edited for a narrative feel like they've only had time to just touch the surface of the internal workings of the club

I am also glad it's edited, protects us and actually if I were an opponent I'd see a team building not falling with the Jose fear factor added even more
Spot on :)

I hate Jose’s 19th century tactics

..but his attitude is what we’ve absolutely been missing.. i’m going to keep my mouth shut about football managers

What do you expect him to say?
The match where he said about the 3 points is because that’s what they’ll have been talking about in their pre match meetings in the build-up about how 3points are so important in catching The gap to Chelsea.

His speeches are simple and to the point, they don’t need to be much more than that and it’s hard to address a group in such a huge circle like that. I wouldn’t say his speeches are incredible but they do what they need to do and I can’t see any of our other players doing a better job of it.

I'm curious what you're expecting? Al Pacino before every match?

Genuinely loving it, it's certainly not groundbreaking or airing dirty washing in plain sight but it definitely gives an extra dimension to understanding how the club works and although it really is the Jose show, that's no bad thing. In the back of I think most fans minds there's always been that little bit of doubt on whether he is still Jose and I think the first 3 eps show us we haven't got the old Jose but a new one, one whose grown and changed and I think that maturity is exactly what we need on the pitch.

The 3 signings we've made so far are a movement towards that maturity, motivated talkers, leaders on the pitch and in the dressing room. We're also not trying to improve the 1st team by spending stupid amounts of money but improve the squad, the dynamic and really the mentality of the squad.

I suspect we will get a Los Celso episode, I doubt we will get a Ndombele one. Maybe we might of if the world hadn't got flipped upside down but I think I've seen Tanguy twice in the first 3 eps, always in group shots and if he is indeed written out, then I think it tells its own story tbh.

I think it's clear the club wanted Eriksen to stay, that may be for the cameras but it felt genuine to me and I think the player wanted to leave and that was truly what it boiled down to. The interviews with the three, Eriksen, Toby and Jan told where they all were on the contract talks and without Jose, we probably would have lost all 3, rather than the 2 we did and I think Jan was our choice more than anything.

6 eps left, 2/3 months of football and the virus hits...and then the weirdness that was the end of the season.

Definitely worth watching imho

Was thinking the exact same thing. He has to do this potentially over 50 times a season and he's being criticised for what he says.

One other thing noticed was that Levy comes across ok and clearly cares for the club but as expected he’s a businessman and when talking about football matters with Jose etc it’s a bit cringey as he doesn’t really know what he’s talking about.

Like when he said who good Sonnys goal was agaisnt Burnley but then said “yea it was like all the players tried to tackle him and that run must have taken so much energy” well duh ?? both of those things are footballers jobs.

But I think luckily he really seems to rate and trust Jose and this is possibly why we are getting more business done this summer more efficiently as Levy really trusts Jose’s judgement and of course the players being targeted are perhaps more attainable than previous targets.

But just an interesting insight into Levy with the small parts we saw, he clearly cares and tries to be personal with people but he’s just a tad cringey tbh.

Spot on, exactly what I think. He has to do this week in week out at the start of matches and at half time and probably at the end as well, it’s tiring. He speech’s are perfectly fine!

"Sissoko is popular in the dressing room"

"Fuck"

Think that says it all!

I'd love more insight into why he said fuck. Fuck because he was hoping to get rid of him asap, Fuck because it sums up the mentality of the team, Fuck just because he's surprised.

He seems to say it because he was surprised and to kind of say well if he is a leader and big dressing room figure then we have an issue because Sissoko is just a nice quiet boy and not the kind of player who should be a key dreasingroom influence.

Maybe. After what Rose and Trippier said about him during half time at the CL semi I just thought he would be more inspiring. Maybe that will come, I do appreciate you can't do that every game!

But you don't have to be loud to be a leader. A leader can be somebody who can go up to a different players and have a word just to reassure them.
