Spurs blow as Dawson may miss the next three weeks
Last updated at 13:50pm on 10th February 2008

Tottenham could be without Michael Dawson for up to three weeks after the England defender suffered a muscle tear in his side's victory over Derby.

The 24-year-old limped off holding the back of his right thigh after just 14 minutes and was replaced by Younes Kaboul, who scored the second goal in Spurs' 3-0 win.

Big loss: Dawson could miss the Carling Cup final

Dawson will definitely miss Thursday's UEFA Cup trip to Slavia Prague, but manager Juande Ramos remains uncertain about the length of his absence.

"It is just one of those typical things that happens in football," said Ramos.

"We think it is a muscle tear but we won't know how bad it is until we have a proper look at him.

"But at this early stage it may be something that means two or three weeks out."

With Ledley King still struggling for fitness, Spurs could find themselves short of defensive cover in the Czech Republic.

Ramos added: "We hope he recovers as quickly as possible but it is all part and parcel of football.

"We know that injuries happen and you can miss key players, but what we do is we choose from the players we have got and we try and pick the right team for the right occasion."

Asked whether King would be fit for the game, the Spaniard said: "I have not had an updated report from any of the club's doctors or medical teams.

"But we are still four or five days away so we will make a judgement later in the week."

Could be a chance for Kaboul to cement a place in the side.

Kaboul did well yesterday, it might be what he needs to get some confidence. I like the way he is in the box, just needs games to strengthen his Premiership brain.

Not ideal for us though, here's hoping Dawson can be available for the CC Final.

Kaboul did well enough, and hopefully King will be able to play a game now and then for us including the final! and we will have Woodgate back as his suspention is finished, would have liekd him to not be injured though with King still not recoverd.

Lets hope he has a quick recovery and back playing soon

Nice bit of skill for his goal yesterday, has a good shot on him he is good in the air and knows how to pass. he has the potential to be better than Dawson. He just has to cut out some of the silly mistakes in his game.

We'll manage with

Woodgate, Kaboul, Huddlestone, Chimbonda, Zokora and who knows maybe King can be resurected one more time

I thought we'd all agreed that Dawson was the worst player we've ever had, a walking liability who couldn't be trusted to look at a football pitch never mind step on one?

Surely this is wonderful news? Or have people stopped being fucking stupid now, what with the United game no longer being our most recent game?

I thought Rocha was back fit? Was he not on the bench last week? I'd prefer him for Slavia for sure.

IMHO Dawson is now so far down the list it wont make any difference .King ,Woody ,Kaboul,Hud,and even Zok are all in front of him. I don't think he is a Ramos player and could well be on his way next season. A great hearted player but limited footballing ability which all of the others have. Hasn't fulfilled his potential.

are you mad? you think kaboul and Thudd are above Dawson in the defensive pecking order? No way! Dawson is a good defender. Not outstanding, but good, and when partnered with a leader at the back, he can be VERY good.

Dawson has been carried this season. Hudd has looked just as good when alongside Woodgate, and i'm sure that Kaboul would as well. That is down to how good King and Woodgate are though. Dawson is far more error prone than the other two. I think i'd choose Kaboul over Dawson, and the way Huddlestone has been playing lately, maybe him as well.

I'd imagine Woodgate and Hudd to play against Prague, with Chimbonda at right back as Hutton can't play...

1- can Gunter play in this tournament?
2- will Zokora play alongside Woody?
3- is Rocha ready to play?

Hopefully Gunter can play LB and Z provides cover at the back along with Rocha. Still have Woody, King, Kaboul, and THudd in front of them... should be okay:pray:
