Yeah, but that was a pretty horrendous outing for all concerned.
1 nil, first game of the season.
Yeah, but that was a pretty horrendous outing for all concerned.
To be honest we were not very good before todays game. Our play today was no different than it has been in the last few months. It's just that it's a new season and our hopes were high but this squad is not good enough to win trophies. What top side would have players like Sissoko, Davies, Aurier and sad to say (a previous favourite of mine) Winks and Deli in their side.
Jose was not my choice but it's not all his fault or in fact any manager we might bring in. The root of the problem was not buying the right player or two each season to strengthen the squad over recent seasons when we were starting to move up the same way Liverpool and City have.
I thought this would be a difficult season based on our current squad before todays game. Today only reinforced those worries.
Things could change, Jose could get a call from god, Levy gives him cheque for £200 mil and Kane gets support from his midfield and scores 40 goals this season.
It was only a few seasons ago that Harry Redknapps Spurs was hailed as playing some of the best football ever seen in the Premier league.
One Day maybe?
I'm waiting for the levy Illuminati to come on here to defend this farce to the masses, it should be interesting reading if not misguided rubbish.Including yourself? Sitting on your self made pedestal calling out everyone who isn't happy with the downwards trajectory of the team.
Cloning? Our strikers didn’t press because they thought ‘what’s the point?! If we end up getting the ball back we don’t have a midfield that can control or pass the football to us, so why make any extra effort to win it back?’
Maybe they won’t be thinking this consciously but at least subconsciously it will be why there seemed to be little effort.
And then obviously that is the first step to a really lethargic and insipid performance.
With Gio and Ndombele in the team behind them I’m confident we’ll see more movement and pressing from our attacking players.
Quickly edited hahaCloning?
I don't forget the previous debacles.Mate I have said I am not happy, what pedestal? I am not prepared to call debutantes shits and wastes of money... I dotn get that mentality its not me raising myself above anyone. You say you would have died of boredom waiting a season but seem to for get the Francis's, Gross's, Santini's we have endured. I am on no pedestal believe me, I just hate self entitled fans, as we all seem to do when we laugh at the United's, Liverpool's, Arsenal's fans when they feel they deserve something.
I don't forget the previous debacles.
But at least there was some sort of attempt to attack (maybe not Graham). My only sense of entitlement is that of wanting the team to try to win games. It appears we are currently trying not to lose.
Almost as if this is harder than it looks, especially at the moment.Misleading stat as every other club around fell apart during the same period (thank god).
I have some sympathy with this point of view. I would probably want a dof to oversee a complete rebuild than let jose buy a load of 30 year olds though.Reflecting back and reading the comments...
On paper, the squad is good enough for top 4. They are certainly good enough for a decent game of football. I don't know why the players checked out. Poch couldn't turn it around. Jose has come in and he can't either. Neither manager is renowned for their man management skills but should be able to turn it around. I've always disagreed with comments saying "we need a new squad" but at this point I think we just need it. Keep Kane and Lloris and sell the rest. I don't think we can keep the same players and try a 3rd manager. I think even Redknapp would severely struggle to get the players playing as a team.
You’re sounding quite croaky there mate, think you must be coming down with something.Had a week off work, go back tomorrow... Boss is an Everton fan ?
He out-performed Poch last season on just about every measurable criteria, but sure keep sounding off

It’s cos he used to be a season ticket holder at ArsenalThe majority of this forum has backed Levy every time he’s sacked a Manager.
Where we are was always inevitable and won’t change till someone else is making the big decisions.
Great businessman but he doesn’t understand people and doesn’t understand football.
