We've done alright in the last twenty minutes, but I don't think our front line looks like they could score today even if the game went on for another couple of hours. Son is the only clinical player we have it seems and we have to get him on the pitch.

I also worry that Maddison might just talk himself into a second yellow. Countless players in the league seem to get away with talking back to the ref and asking for yellow cards but I can see Maddison being the one that gets punished for it.

Should be 1-1 anyway because Deki was pushed in the back as he got in front of Estupinan.

It took half an hour for Madison to really get going. Hopefully we'll see Bentacur spark into life soon as well.

They system clear requires an aggressive front-foot mentality to work. The second we get the drive to put the ball in the back of the net the passes start connecting and the presses start creating turnovers.

Son for Werner, biss for benta.

5-1
I actually think werner has been our most productive forward (bar that awful cross at the end).

as poor as bentancur has been, my worry is what form biss will be in as he has been poor or unfit for 4 months now.

As I said in that very post, this is not "he's shit and I hate him". I'm not even saying take him off. As of yet though, were any future chances to fall to us I feel we have a better chance of them being taken if Son is the player in question.

That's it. Unclench.
Well Son is possibly the best finisher in premiership history (one of the best certainly ) so he is obviously better at finishing than Richy however Richarlison has done well I think and fully deserves to be our centre forward. Son is much better from the left.

Have to wonder if Maddison and Bentancur's returns from injury, combined with Sarr just coming back and Werner still getting adjusted to his teammate, has meant we are a rusty with the passing sequences.

The amount of times Maddison and Bentancur have needed to 2-3 touches and have their heads down is really out of character, they both normally play much more fluidly and know where they are passing.

Richy has been good this half I honestly don't understand what some of you are smoking. Of all the players to focus on it shouldn't be him, he has been a thorn in their side all half.
He’s done okay/well outside the box. Inside the box he hasn’t got the ball manipulation and quick feet to get a pass or shot away. Always seems to get stuck in his feet.

Brighton have been very good BUT we have helped them a lot with that sluggish start.

Everyone taking 2-3 touches looking unsure of what to do with the ball. Lack of movement etc
Yeh I was thinking the same thing. We miscontrolled the first touch on so many occasions in the first 20 minutes and coughed up possession. We try to play when we get pressed but if we don’t have a good first touch we get in trouble. Brighton on the other head when they receive the ball and get pressed just seem to take contact and go down which relieves all pressure. They’ve created pressure on themselves with some sloppy passing but we haven’t taken advantage yet.

We just look at about 60% of what we can be but I think we’ll ramp up in 2nd half.

Richarlison ffs. Im sorry, he's done well these last few months but he's absolutely killing us today.
The entire midfield and attack are killing us today. Is there a good performance in the yet?

Can't blame bentancur and Maddison for being off it. Will take bentancur the rest of this season to get back to where he was

As good as they are, Maddison and Bentancur together just doesn’t work at the moment. If Bissouma has any fitness at all, he needs to come on for Bentancur. Similar for Son with either of our wide players

Few players are miles off it, probably not match fit or sharp following injuries.

We lack composure in the final third and our decision making is so poor. Think we lack balance in midfield and the front 3. Would look to take off Timo for Son for some composure and quality in the final third and Biss for Bentancur to assist with playing through the press and give us a more balanced midfield 3.

We have created chances through our pressing rather than our build up. This has been the case for a while and I'm hoping Ange addresses it, we don't seem to dominate spells of games on the way we did earlier in the season. Feel like we are very end to end at the moment.

Yeah, agreed.

It was weird though how Bentancur was phenomenal against Utd when he just returned from injury and in every game since then he's looked a lot worse.

I would keep him on and take Kulusevski off.
Ye, move Werner to the right side and let him cross with his right foot. He's making good runs and can beat his guy. Apart from his chance, Deki is just slowing us down atm.

We just agree to disagree is all. I think our best chance to win is to ensure Son is the one on the end of the chances today and you think Richy.

All I can say is that I hope it's one of them and will be delighted if it's Richy.
