There was a danger this would happen and it's quite deflating. The draw vs Man City looking like a blip in an atrocious run of form now, stemming from indiscipline and nonsense at home to Chelsea. Ange hadn't lost a home game in years! We were on the cusp of 5-wins-in-a-row a couple of times, but it didn't happen and that aggressive will to win just isn't there.

1 point from 15 available is abysmal after such a strong start. He inherited a team fighting around 8th place and we're in danger of reverting to that mean with this run of games. There's 5 games between now and the end of December and we've really got to find better form again. We're playing a better brand of football by miles compared to recent seasons, but that fight and urgency is not at a consistently high level.

I mentioned the players remain fairly flaky which upset one or two on here. That urgency up at City to get something from the game can easily fade away in the next game and I still think they think our players/mentality is that we can walk to victory sometimes. Walking pace footy in possession was back again tonight and Ange has to keep working to stamp that out.

Another factor is that we essentially have noone who can play RWF other than Deki.

This causes big issues because when teams double up on that side, you can move Deki inside and put the other RWF there. So Deki is effective in otehr areas.

It isn't as much of an issue when Maddison is playing but clearly is agaisnt low blocks because Johnson isn't as capable of picking players out in a low block.

Son isn;t a target man either so whipping crosses in is useless.

We don't really have any option to mix it up.

You can go toe to toe with yer Cities etc. they will let you play and it’s a roll of the dice.

against low block and the like then it’s a diff story. It’s suicide especially if your carrying injuries like we are and the second team aren’t up to it then even more so.

I’m loving the first half of games, and it’s lovely to have some football back but Ange does need to change shit around as we are too predictable right now. We’ve been figured out and we need a surprise / plan B / switch up otherwise this is really going to hurt (more).

I salute the balls on him, I do. But tweaks / change needed.

Just got back for the game so not had a chance to read through but my view was West Ham were absolute dogshit. There is no way we should ever have lost that game.

Our big problem was that we didn’t have anybody brave or willing enough to take on a shot of try a creative pass.

Everything was nice intricate triangles around tight spaces that may look good on highlights packages but in a game proved quite easy to defend against when nobody takes a shot unless it’s a perfect scoring opportunity.

One final note if anybody on here was in block 516 and either is or is going out with a blonde chav straight out of Only Way is Essex I hate you / your moronic irritating girlfriend who would not shut up screeching the most insane mindless drivel the whole 85mins they stayed for

That’s the first game we’ve lost that I thought was inexcusable. The others before we’ve had key players out injured but that tonight was disappointing. Well on top first half, without really creating any great chances, and the second half was an absolute shit show. The slow pace we played at was infuriating, against a team of cloggers. Shit night

Fair enough if anyone feels entertained watching us being unable to hold on to a lead week after week, but I haven't seen us so tactically naive since the Sherwood days. And this is not entertaining at all. Sexy football is nothing if you cannot turn it into results. We didn't create an actual chance all game today. And the subs were terrible per usual.

Just got home after nightmare trains out of Waterloo so not in the greatest of moods...

It is what it is. I always viewed this as a transition season so our progress after the first 10 games was beyond my wildest dreams. And the losses we've had we haven't been outplayed once so that's positive.

more worrying - or becoming g more glaring - is we struggle to create chances against teams in a mid or low block. People are calling for a striker and I agree but I don't think Ange uses a traditional No 9? Either way we need to be able to find other ways to score.

the worst thing that could happen is for team and fans to stop buying in. It will happen for us.

It is becoming clear that we do need a striker, not just a forward but a striker a goal taker a leader of the line, a focal point, someone who can shift a yard then shoot not just hit it and hope. We sold one and we need a new one. We cannot go on wasting so many opportunities every game. Our football sometimes is superb, scintillating and deserves better finishing.
A damn shame tonight.
You need players who are a bit selfish and with a ton of self belief.

Kane used to get tons of criticism for shooting when it wasn't really on. Well, this is why because the reverse is you get players who need a clear sight or need to get 15 yards away to have a pop.

Kane just had so much self belief he didn;t care if he missed cause he knows the next one is going in. Some of these players play as if they may only get one shot so they need to wait for the perfect opportunity.

I can see why Ange is irritated by that.

Son is someone who is capable but when he plays CF, he hardly gets a look in against a low block.

Johnson was too timid with his shooting, trying to carefully place it in. Deki was just refusing to hit it. Lo Celso and others kept checking. Whilst you can see Bissouma lacks belief.

Maddison has that in buckets. He can be having a stinker but he won't shy from shooting if he thinks there is 1% chance of scoring.

Deki actually rally frustrated me tonight. The first time I have really lost it with him.

It was totally inexcusable to keep passing up the chance to shoot. He had at least 2 moments where the Deki of back end 2022 would have just hit it.

In fact, he seems more comfortable doing it with his right foot bizarely. I have no idea why he tried to cross that one at the end where he actually had a clear sight of the top corner.

But you can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket.

+ 8:15pm kickoff. Cold. I'm still making a 250mile round trip! :)
2am. Just got in. Totally worth it.

On the plus side, got to chat with Ossie, Ledley, Daws and saw Sarr & Skippy after the game too

We didn't lose because we lacked effort.

Pretty much spot on, we lost because we have an ineffective front three, a front three where Ange has said most of the season needs improvement.

Richy is simply not good enough and another waste of money, something that I am sure by now Ange understands.

It will be an interesting January transfer window, and we will truly see where Levy stands in supporting Ange, but for sure we cannot continue at this rate of losing games or we will not be anywhere near the top ten let along fighting for a place in Europe.

Well this was you after our last game and today we lost to a crazy ricochet and an underhit back pass.

Sometimes in football you are just shit out of luck for a while.

To lose against Spam after being one nil up is… stupid and of course: stubborn. Still believe in Ange, but he has to change his attitude. 🤷🏻

Fucking hell.

I remember when some City fans were calling for Pep to be sacked cause they went through a bad patch.

He was a fraud apparently.

Klopp at Liverpool was getting people say Rodgers had a better record at one point and his team uses too much energy for 60 mins.

We were doing very well with the same 11 week in week out.

As soon as we hit injuries and have to use the squad we are coming up short.

It's as simple as that

The main reason we didn’t win that game, in the first half where we dominated everything is Kulusevski and his refusal to use his right foot. In that first half there must have been 15 to 20( or more) attacks down our right flank and NOT ONCE did Kulusevski put in a first time cross, putting the WH defense Uber pressure. Instead every time he cuts in and 4 or 5 touches later the attack breaks down. On the other side Johnson won’t take on the full back and go for the byline. Result is we have loads of possession but don’t trouble the defense or the goalkeeper. Ange's style of football can’t work if the wide players don’t put the ball in the box.

Then to make matters worse Postecoglou makes substitutions and not only leave’s Kulusevski on the field but takes off Lo Celso who along with Hojbjerg was our best player. Sheer madness. Postecoglou seems to be yet another, in a long line of managers who have a blind spot about certain favorite players and can’t see that they are playing crap.
On top of that both their goals had a huge slice of luck although for the second Vicario should have grabbed the ball instead of punching.
Very disappointing but we will continue to drop points in the games ahead if our wide players don’t put the ball in the box quickly and if our defense continue to give away soft goals
