It will be interesting to see how he goes as a wing back. Granted he has not excelled what effectively was a back 4 at Spurs but his record for Wolves was good where his role was more focused on contributing further forward.
He was shit when we used him as a wingback last season too if I remember correctly. I really believe we should cut our loses on him. He was chasing shadows every single time he played for us

I thought he looked slow and ponderous as well as defensively weak. I think he might have had a decent game away at Leicester. But that was it. Not good enough in any way shape or form in my opinion.

They aren’t in for him though are they, it’s just his agent trying to get us to conclude the deal. Oldest trick in the book.

you know this do you? you can say with 100% positivity? the post was made in jest, there's no need to be so testy with your opening statement.
chill winston, it's all good.

I think we are clearly pencilling him to play on the right side of a back three more than as a full back, which makes loads of sense when you consider his position. Right now only Toby (old) and Tanganga (injury problems and not established) can really play that position, so it is something we need to strengthen. The left side is covered by Ben Davies and Joe Rodon, both players who I think could thrive in a back three.

Fab saying talks ongoing. We do like to drag it out
tbf it really hasn't been very long. I don't think it's anything beyond normal. Particularly now with all the extra paperwork, which believe me even when rushed is gonna take clubs a lot longer to complete transfers.

On the Doherty debate, I'd be shocked if Nuno will allow someone who is essentially going to be an ally to leave this window. Look, Doherty genuinely was good for Wolves, he shouldn't be completely written off at this point. Though I'd rather keep Aurier and think we really do need another right back. I don't think Tomiyasu is being pencilled in for that spot though.

Let me be frustrated without bringing reason into this!!

I’m hoping that Tomiyasu’s versatility to feature across the back line (including LCB) will pave the way for the club to cash in on Davies.

Davies is clearly a solid pro and teammate but it’s time to focus on developing our young talents with higher ceilings like Rodon, Tanganga, and (maybe) Tomiyasu at CB and Sessegnon at left back IMO.

Seems like we could really use the funds this summer and it’s unlikely Davies will be worth more than he is currently whilst playing for us.

Leopard doesn't change its spots. Haggling over a few mil by the sounds of things. Pathetic.

I presume you’re talking about Levy. You may have missed that we hired a DoF who is doing all player transfer negotiations and likes to have 4 or 5 parallel deals on the go before getting one over the line.

I mean is he? I don't want to get rid of our relatively reliable if limited players. Every good team has them with few exceptions. Yes let's get people in but we should be careful. I personally think Davies as a CB is good if temporary solution. Over putting our eggs in the basket of potential, as frankly both Rodon and Tanganga might well end up Championship players, let alone top division ones. If we value their potential and our good enough to start, then start them. You don't need to get rid of them, and Davies would need a replacement, and we could end up getting in 3 new centre backs, and that kind of change has disaster written all over it.

Similarly, I don't think the money we could get for Ben Davies is likely to result in us getting a player, a higher ceiling yes, but there are more pressing problems to fix and we still need people we can count on, or known quantities if you like.
