I just love how this fixture falls on a week where Leicester get an entire weeks rest ;and preperation before the game, how convenient for them, anyway...

I would say if Kane is fit he needs to start and so does Toby, they would be the two changes I would make, I do no anticipate Kane starting though personally.

Either way I think Leicester are going to nick this since we can't break teams down and you just know they are going to be well up for this especially after their last league win and the fact they have had a whole week to prep and they will want to "prove" something against us.

Don't get your rest comment, when with the possible exception of Dier, Saturday's line up will also have had a full weeks rest.. Wanyama and Lamela had 30 minutes last night, so other than the inconvenience of travelling, don't see that Leicester have a great advantage.
Leicester would have played this week had they progressed in the EFL cup, so the argument is a little flawed.

They have an entire week to focus on a gameplan against us, it's not just about rest mate but I see your point about them progressing.

Isn't that the same for most weekends? One team plays in a cup and the other hasn't?

---------------- Lloris
Walker --- Dier --- Verts --- Rose
---------Wanyama
----------------------Dembele
---Lamela ------Alli ---------Son
--------------- Janssen

I'm assuming Toby won't play, but I hope my assumption is crap.

I don't think we particularly need the steel of Dembele and Wanyama against Leicester's midfield, but it will certainly help shield the back four. It's also tough for me to drop Eriksen, but I'd have players in the attacking midfield three who are more likely to make runs into and around the box, thus benefiting from Janssen's hold up ability.

I see this is as really a 4-1-4-1, with Dembele being the one of the two attacking CMs to stay a little deeper.

I fully expect a lot of long balls out of the back from Leicester, so any pressing we can do to deny them the time to pick out potential runs from Steptoe would be most welcome.

Even if Kane is fit I think it's a big ask to have him come in and start doing what we all wish all of a sudden.

Not sure if Janssen or Son would be better up front, I'd be tempted to go with Janssen as I think Leicester will set up like a team who plays like WBA when not in possession of the ball but transition to a team like Arsenal when counter attacking. I was basically just wondering if approaching the game like the Man City one would work.

If Kane isn't back then I'd continue with Son

Janssen will get zero from brutes like Huth but son is more likely to catch him out

Ultimately need Eriksen and Lamela to get back on form, they are the key

Janssen's physical presence is exactly what will be required. Son would get bullied by Huth and Morgan but could thrive off knock downs from Vince.

Son is great against defenders who want to be footballers and give him a chance to nick the ball. Huth and Morgan will knock their usual long balls as always.

Hopefully Toby is back and we revert to the usual back 5

Vorm, Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer, Davies; Dier (c) , Winks; Onomah, Carroll , Nkoudou; Janssen.

Agreed.

Janssen will likely get hacked to bits by Huth and Morgan, but he's a strong lad who can take his lumps. If he can do that, then he can draw fouls in dangerous positions and possibly draw a card or two from one or both of their CBs. And if he's got Son and Alli (and Lamela) to run off of him, then that plays to our strengths. Morgan and Huth will have real difficulty handling us running at them like that.

Janssen should play up top with Alli & Son in close support. Janssen needs some continuity - which was supposed to happen when Kane got injured but Son had a purple patch. Now that we're having a goal scoring blip, it'd be good to get Janssen to follow up a mid-week goal with a strong home performance. If he's not isolated and we attack Leicester as we did Man City, he'll produce the goods.

I heard an interesting stat during the coverage for last weeks champions league game.

Leicester have lost each game that falls before a champions league fixture.

Cue the SpursOfficial twitter account tweeting a picture including this stat, with the team proceeding to lose.

Much like:

"Bayer Leverkusen have never kept a clean sheet at home against English Opposition in the champs league"

then

"We have never lost to Liverpool in the League Cup in 90 mins"

Really want to see Janssen do well, but i feel Son's movement and directness will give Huth and Morgan more problems, really think they'll handle Janssen's strengths quite comfortably.

Eriksen deep to set the tempo and Lamela off Son to thread balls centrally. Get Dembele up the pitch dribbling into the box.

Assuming Toby and Harry won't start, I'd go:

Lloris

Walker
Dier
Vertonghen
Rose

Wanyama
Eriksen

Dembele
Lamela
Alli

Son

I'd go:

Lloris
Walker Dier Vertonghen Rose
Wanyama
Lamela Dele Eriksen Son
Janssen

Bench: Vorm, Trippier, Wimmer, Dembele, Winks, Onomah, KGN

Not much on the bench with Kane, Alderweireld and Sissoko out

going to need to come out fast and unsettle these, a 1st half goal would be priceless. hopefully Poch has also taken note of their defending at corners, of late the hard hit along the ground has been their undoing

Janssen starts for me with son alli eriksen and Lamela buzzing around him. They need to be interchanging and supporting Janssen though as he seems so isolated at times.
