According to @Delboy75, Markanday is playing well today. If anything, this shows that regardless of the fact that he's training with the 1st team, he's still prepared to give his all when called on. I still maintain that Markanday will make his debut in the ECL vs Mura.
I'm sure he will give his all, but I want him giving his all for the first team.
Okay, not debut him V Arsenal, but do debut him tomorrow, except it's now too late.
Then sure debut him V Mura, let's see what happens
Let's see who plays tomorrow and who puts in a performance to justify their selection
A team isn't strong because of names on paper, a team is strong because of what they do on the pitch

You also need to be patient with his development. I realize he's hit a fine patch of form and physically looks more robust, but he's still only 20 without any 1st team experience. It's very likely he'll look out of place and will probably struggle a bit to adjust the new level of competition. I just want everyone to temper their expectations about what Markanday's inclusion in the 1st team and the impact he can have for us.

I think we need some consistency in the lineup to try and build on what we saw during the first half against Chelsea. I would go with:

Gollini

Emerson
Romero
Sanchez
Davies

Lo Celso
Skipp
Dele

Gil
Kane
Son

Fair comments, and probably along the lines of what Nuno is thinking. But yes I am impatient, don't mind waiting another week, but if not then, when?
Obviously, just have to wait and see. I await tomorrow's team and performance. If we win, fine Nuno is right and I am wrong. If we lose, then I will be venting if we put in another lacklustre attacking performance a la Chelsea and Palace

I’d play Kane, hopefully he gets a goal and gets his mojo back because he looks sluggish and disinterested. It could be that he has checked out, but he does go through these spells and then all of a sudden he gets a goal and he’s a different player

Clarke & Markanday started for the u21s so no chance of them being in the squad tomorrow. Not like we arent in dire need of attacking depth or anything since our talisman refuses to move a fucking muscle & just practically lounges on the pitch & lucas & stevie are hurt. Christ, Nuno?‍♂️

Gone back and forth with this one but then the realism hit home.
We’re miles away from Manc Chels and Pool for league challenge.
Strongest team please.

Season of real transition. So easy to get caught up in the romance and levels of the last few years. Consolidate top 6 and pinch a cup would be palatable especially if there is some tangible progress on the playing style as well.

Don’t know what it is with this group of players but towards the end of Poch, pretty much most of Jose and already a little bit creeping in with Nuno, nobody seems to be able to field a settled side. First 3 games promised so much but then as soon as we hit some selection difficulties it’s gone to shit.

For me, Sanchez for Doherty, put Japhet at RB and NDombele for Winks.

We should actually be playing our strongest teams in the cup. Put the league aside. Cups should be a priority.

Considering offensive injuries to Lucas Bergwijn Sessegnon and fact we are already probably a body light, was really surprised to see Markanday Clarke Devine Nile all at U23 game last night. Unless Nuno intends to go very strong to build some confidence and this suggests he does. Cause otherwise I’ve no idea what our offensive line will be considering Bryan was only attacking sub at weekend and Scarlett.

As you said, first 3 games were full of promise. There were clear attacking patterns & tactics.

It went to shit when the team had to start accommodating Mr Wantaway at the front of our attack.

I'm like a stuck record with this one. I find it difficult to believe the players who got those first 3 results aren't affected in some way by him just waltzing back into the team & pretty much undoing everything they did without him.

And we all know that the majority of this squad had to endure the same thing in the biggest game of their club career, after previously achieving one of the best results in modern history.

It just has to piss them off.
