Somehow I think Pochettino will feel like a let down if we have missed out on both LVG and de Boer. Just does not feel like an inspired signing.

If it's true though, I look forward to seeing how he shapes the squad this summer.

Apologies if already shared but:-

Tottenham will not pursue their interest in Ajax's Frank de Boer paving the way for Mauricio Pochettino to become their new boss #THFC

Former chief football correspondent at two papers.

Not looking good for FDB. Although could just be us cooling down publically ahead of Sherwood's settlement...

Levy has never compromised on paying hefty compensation (Eg. Ramos and Redknapp), so I can't see why he would this time.

There are many similarities between Pochettino's and AVB's styles. The only difference is that Poch has applied it effectively while AVB fucked it up.

When people say that getting a foreign manager is a risk, I always look back to Mourinho. Now, I'm obviously not saying FDB will be our Mourinho but it shows that getting a foreign manager can work magically.

Personally, I would go for trophies over PL experience- ideally, you would wan't both which is why many people on here want Benitez.

The difference was how Southampton moved the ball , their passing and movement as a team was much better.

Honestly, if they didn't have those lapses at the back from time to time I think they of would of been pushing for a top 6 finish.

Levy needs his head seeing too if he cocks this up.

This journo has since said the compo is only a small issue, and it's the public courting from FDB that has cooled our interest. Not sure how likely that is though.

I'd say it is totally unlikely. If he was the man we wanted him saying he would interested in the media is hardly a big issue.

If we didn't have lapses at the back we would be comfortably in the top 4.

Honest question.... player for player do you think our defence is better than Southampton? I'd say we're equal.

Walker..... Vert..... Lovren...... Shaw.

We had more than lapses, we were slipping into comas every other week :)

I don't know mate, as its how you defend as a team isn't it?

In the first half of the season we were playing risk averse possession, so bar a few batterings, we were doing pretty well defensively as we didn't take much risk in our play.

Southampton clearly took more risks than we did.

With the rumours that we are looking at Martinez and that Pochettino has been growing in popularity amongst certain board members it does seem FDB is slipping down the agenda. Couple this with the weekly come and get me pleas from FDB and his brother maybe Levy really has gone off him since he turned us down in December...

Or we appoint someone else in that time frame.

Ive just been thinking about the time frame actually.

From ITK we've been told there is a sit down between Sherwood and Levy. So thats got to happen before we know if he's sacked or not. Then we've got to start interviewing potential managers, that could easily take us to the 18th I suppose. So its not beyond the realms of possibility we will still not have a manager in, say, 2 weeks time. If anything I suspect thats quite likely.

Eg. Redknapp sacked 13/6/12 AVB appointed 3/7/12 - on this basis it might take quite a bit of time to get someone in.
