Part of the reason for playing Broad is that he very rarely goes for many runs early on especially and this helps other bowlers as it puts pressure on the opposing batsmen to score runs . I saw no early pressure at all yesterday in fact it was a stroll .
You have to produce some kind of pressure otherwise the batsmen are on easy street .
Bad team selection all round with no Roote (wife having baby ) no Bairstow no Hales the batting looks soft to me .
A lot of chat about the decision to win the toss and bat but for me Jason Gillespie summed it up, he said you have to play the pitch not the conditions, which considering the pitch is already doing bits up and down and will very likely take some spin, I can see why Stokes did it.
Sibley looks unrecognisable at two stone lighter and I'm not convinced Crawley is up to it yet. I think they have put the batting order as is because Root will just come straight back in at 4 and Crawley will be the man left out.
