Could be. Would be strange to take a punt on the relatively untested Atsu when we're about to welcome Andros Townsend back to the Lane. Andros always looked fantastic for the shittest team in the league. He's really earned his chance.

Understand the point - what we've done with Townsend at QPR, but I really want to see Tommy C play regularly for us regularly next year, I think he's got massive potential and now is the time he realised that with us.

Guess it comes down to defining regularly. We've seen a bit of him this season but its a long way from what I would call regularly. If AVB intends to use him regularly this season then I would agree. If its going to more of the same, more or less, I would be looking to loan him to a prem team.

When I mean regularly I mean as a regular EPL starter for us - not just cups. I want AVB to place some trust in this kid 'cause I think he's got it, and he's got what we've lacked this season.

I don't think he's ready, the kid exibits decent passing ability but I don't think he's tough enough yet to play week in week out in the top flight for a team of our calibre. I'd rather watch him else were grow into that role for a season then when he's ready to hit the ground running unleash him in our midfield. I'm confident AVB will give him the shot if he is ready so I guess we'll have to wait and see how he's handled.

Some goals/assist from this season, hes done some great goals, seems like every goal has some form of skill involved, not just those ez goals.

After watching this video I really like the look of this guy sign him up levy!!

This is possibly one of the worst, if true, pieces of ITK news this summer.

I don't believe it's ITK; I think he's just stating a known fact to get reporters off his back. I also believe that IF we have identified our targets and can get them early, then we will. If we can't then it's situation normal at the end of August.

I would really, really love it if we got Benteke. My number one target for this summer.

i am desperate for us to sign him. i would happily pay villa 20 million for him. i have a nagging suspicion that he will end up at chelsea or city though. we missed this boat.

ITK for Benteke or Leandro. AVB has hinted at Villa. Still we will get one of those at best I reckon, plus maybe a LB and young creative midfielder. After that I honestly believe Levy will play hardball trying to buy any good player who is available and try to get them for good value who are opportunistic signings like VDV and Dempsey (I know not everyone's choice, but seemed a coup at the time for someone who had scored 17 goals last season).

I've got a feeling that this might be AVB's window; the one where Levy pats himself on the back for making a good managerial appointment and lets his man get the players he wants. All managers seem to get at least one of those windows and I think that AVB has earned his.

He's not leaving Villa for anything less than 20mil so cross "good price" off the list.

Even if we beat Arsenal to 4th, wouldn't we then need to play a 2 legged qualifier to get into the CL group stages proper?

Which means we'll have another 3 months of noises coming out of the club that 'We need to wait for the outcome of those matches before signing our players' or 'we're in for him, but he's gonna wait til after those matches before deciding whether to sign for us'

I don't think this will happen. I think that AVB wants to win the league and the optimistic part of me thinks that Levy is going to back him with the players that he wants to do it with.

(Thank god that 'optimistic' rating has gone from the site.)

I think Benteke would be worth every penny of the 20 million if that was his price.

22, big strong and a fantastic finisher. He already is showing signs of good link up play and a younger age, leaves way more room for improvement.

I don't think he'll suffer the 'first season' curse.

If we don't go in for him then sign an unproven Damiao for a similar price can't say I'll be too pleased.

I don't normally read the comments on SSN but if you're looking for a chuckle there are quite a few scousers who don't know 7th is outside the top 6.

Had a bit of a look on YouTube and the guy looks pretty decent

Wouldn't be happy with Atsu, from what I've seen of him... He's just a speed merchant; wouldn't be that much of an upgrade on Lennon and we have Townsend returning.

It all depends what formation AVB selects next season... If it involves more out and out wingers then I would agree with you...

However, if it's 4-3-3; we have players who can cover the inside forward positions... 'Cover' isn't good enough though. Hence why I would hope if we are going 4-3-3 we would be looking for more of an inside forward a la Son/PEA who can instantly improve our first 11
