Surely Barca just tell him to run his contract down so they can get him for nothing and pay him a shit load.
How would that make any sense?Would be gutted, and with his contract dwindling we aren’t in a strong negotiating position. Couldn’t we agree a contract with a fee release clause if Barca came in?
a bit more from ali z on eriksen: Not about money am told will sign a new deal if he can't get "dream" move.
The idea of Daniel Levy trying to replace Christian Eriksen quite literally makes my balls shrivel up and recoil back up into my body with dread.

and more from ali z: Toby currently has no suitors, may well change or he may well have to accept less than 200k pw, Eriksen could still be here with a new contract next year, just not in our hands.
Three blue posts on the trot. My church steeple just grew a littleAnd you need to 'be careful'

Disaster, no. But he won't be easy to replace and we might have to alter the way we play if he leaves.
Anyway, Eriksen has always been a top professional and he has been instrumental to this club and its renaissance. A part of me wishes that he can fulfill his boyhood dream and play for Barcelona at some point.
Because he's better than Coutinho?
No, I agree with you. I'm not even sure Eriksen would be as good in La liga as he has been in the PL.

You are correct @Mr Pink. Lets just watch this spaceI hope he stays as he's class but if he goes then we'll have plans in place and the most important thing above all is that it's Pochettino's plans that remain intact to carry us forward.
He's by far the most important component at the Club.
Coutinho left Liverpool to their dread, and they've kicked on, and providing Pochettino stays so will we regardless of who goes.
Eriksens dream move is Barca? Let’s be honest if Madrid also come calling I’m sure he’d still be interested. Very hard to turn down either of those clubs especially after playing at Spurs for a few years and giving his all. Obviously I want him to stay but if he ends up going for big money and we invest the money it’s all part of the process of moving the club forward. However if he leaves and DL don’t give Poch the money to spend I’ll lose my shit along with everyone else.
FWIW, JJ on Twitter:It’s Madrid, not Barca. Years ago when he was at Ajax I remember it being mentioned. He also talked about a ‘secret plan’ he had for his career a year or two after joining us.
My issue is our lack of succession planning for this one. He’s been the player in our squad most primed for a move to one of those super clubs for a while now, so we should really have lined up A successor in the last few windows.
Anyway, not for this thread but I certainly found the ITK a bit depressing. Him leaving would damage us.
Would hope he could see the endless shit the #10 types have gotten at Madrid over the years.. Ozil, James, now Isco.FWIW, JJ on Twitter:
In response to today's itk: "Bang on"
Pressed for team: "I'm not doing the guessing game! Not Barca though"

Because at least that way he’d be tied down for longer and there’s be an agreed fee that would allow him his dream move IF it materialised but by the same token, if that club never bid at least we’d have him tied down for his best years rather than risk losing him free of charge. How would that make any sense?
