At this late stage, not really getting my hopes up when it comes to incomings. No more incomings wouldn't be a surprise but if we do manage to do some business, probably max 2 in provided we can shift a few. Hopefully any incomings are players we've done our homework on rather than a last minute deal that's thrown our way towards the end and we decide to bite.... unless the deal is for a top quality player but not holding my breath on that one.

As things stand I think we are good value for top 6 and pushing top 4. I think most of us would have been content with that.

But things are going better than expected....so
If we are able to do what we need to do then we may be able to aim even higher.

Don't waste another opportunity to kick on faster.

Not a question for you more the club and Daniel coys. In what world can you sell a striker for 100m and not have the funds to buy a back up CB, striker and replace hojbjerg if he goes for money?
We do have the funds, we all know that. Sure it was stoof? Who said we could spend £400m and still be within FFP too, there isn’t really an excuse not to, aside from the deadwood issue. Which is really beginning to get on my wick.

the Itk from h88 & herc sounds positive, and this is not me questioning them, but I can’t see us shifting what we apparently need to, unless he changes tact (which I don’t think is possible)

and I find it hard we will get 1 in, let alone 2/3.

would absolutely love to be probed wrong, but I’ll remain pessimistic and then I won’t be as annoyed come Friday when we haven’t got our new striker & cb.

I hate being negative, but we’ve been here waaaaaay too many times before to know how it generally ends up.

Yeah, a much as we all welcome the itk, levy is not the type to see someone doing well and reward it with investment. We’ve all seen it before. I hope I’m wrong.

Agreed.

Would be a breath of fresh air for Levy to see the good start and improve the squad further.

Let's see if we get the outs early this week then hopefully we can dream

Wasn't there similar sentiment coming from the club this time last year about Conte and wanting to give him everything he wanted after the end to the previous season and the start we had last season points wise.
With window closing on Friday it's hard to have optimism that we will get alot done before it closes.
Hopefully I'm wrong but hard not to think it will be another disappointing one

We’ve left it too late. To find/attract players better than our current first 11 is going to cost a lot of money.
This is a really important point. Aside from those already on the market I’m not really sure what quality players we are going to be able to bring in at this point. Not many teams are going to be willing to sell their best players with little to no time left in the window to replace them.

You get the feeling that this is very similar to Nelson and Saha in that the time is so right to really push on as the benefits are clear and obvious. First time around he shit the bed, somehow he’s lucked into a position where targeted backing can once again really propel us up several levels from an already really strong position.

let’s see.

I feel like we’d be multiple times more furious if the start of the season hadn’t have been so positive. Getting all that money for Kane and spending none of it really is crazy.

This was discussed in the previous ITK thread. FFP is not the only constraint on how much of the club’s money can be spent on transfer fees and wages; as a result of the record levels of debt the club is carrying, there are strict financial covenants to be observed too.

That doesn’t go against the principle of what you’re saying. I think we all agree that the time to invest is now, when the potential for success is at its highest.

But the need to sell players to balance outgoings is probably at least as much to do with financial restrictions as it is to do with Levy’s “cautious” nature. And very little to do with FFP in our current circumstances.

Disagree. Started well, playing good football. We are a better prospect today than a few weeks back.

Thanks for the info lads, always appreciated. I’m not getting sucked in though, I’ve seen this too many times. I’m not excited about this week and my expectations are that we might be lucky to move a couple more out with possible opportunistic loan deal or something coming in. I think it’ll be quiet for incomings and not surprised at all if we are finished on that side of things.

I don’t think it’s about the club being an attractive proposition to players. Compared to a few weeks ago, you’re right we are.

It’s about the vendor. To sell this close to the deadline it is likely to carry a premium because when that vendor is looking to replace they’ll be “taxed” on the grounds of time being short/ desperation, call it what you will.

Yeah bang on.

I can seriously see a situation where no one comes in . That's pretty insane
