Have to agree with everyone saying we've got no chance with Bayern. They very rarely sell their top players unless they want to. Even Hargreaves, who wasn't one of their top players, wasn't German and had an excuse for going 'home', they were very reluctant to sell. And Bastian isn't just any player in or around the first team but pretty much the closest they have to Mr. Bayern bar Lahm at the moment. If he decided to leave I'm afraid we wouldn't be top of his list at all. I'd be delighted, obviously, but it ain't gonna happen in a million years, and I'll strongly consider a nude run through the streets of Khartoum if Levy pulls it off..

U are on your own, No way will i let Mr Levy pull my pants down.

I can only think we want a reserve/youth player from BM, as others have said most of their first team are way beyond our budget.

Glad to see positive ITK on Verts, hopefully it will be wrapped up this week and then we can perhaps get one more in before Euros. Think I would relax more watching the Euros knowing we had Verts and a striker in the bag already....strange as that my seem but I am worried we are going to miss out on our targets and then have to rethink leaving us with yet even more of a wait to get the right players in.

I'm sure we have got plenty of irons in the fire and top targets to boot but just like in previous transfer windows, until we shift our fringe players for a decent return then it will all be in vain.

Trying to offload Bentley, Gio, Jenas & co is perhaps more difficult than actually obtaining the kind of players we are looking at currently.

Fletcher is a pretty reliable striker. I'd be disappointed if he was the only striker we signed and we didn't get a star striker like Remy, Ade or Leandro, but having Fletcher as our third choice striker behind two of those wouldn't be so bad. He's decent in the air, and he scores goals.

I was very interested in the following snippets that seem to have gone somewhat under the radar:

1) Livermore is very highly thought of: DL has put a lot of time and effort into revamping the youth side of recruitment and training, and I cannot imagine he would have done that if he wasn't expecting to see serious returns. I believe that process began with the big long think after the sacking of GHodd, which ended with the hiring of Frank Arnesen. When looked at rationally, if that was seven years ago, then the first age group to be around 14 YO (any older wouldn't have benefitted that much from a change of methods if already at the club, or would have been beyond the purview of the youth squad altogether). That would give an age of approx. 21 YO, now. If we can produce one player good enough for the first team every couple of years, and a couple of genuine squad players every two to three years, and being able to sell the rest for reasonable fees (for example), then we would be getting a reasonable return. Anything more, including producing a Golden Generation would be great for the club.

With this in mind, as against some who, I believe were overly critical of him, I was really quite pleased with Livermore's contributions last season, coming in under quite difficult circumstances, to begin with. And hopefully he can at least cement a place in our squad, as the firstfruits of this revamping.

2) Very interesting that if we do sign Leandro we will sever our ties with Inter. Firstly, does that mean that if we don't sign him we will maintain our links? And, secondly, it does kinda suggest that the clubs had mutually exclusive visions about what the relationship was. Levy would seem to have considered it much that they were a feeder club for us, than they did. I have said all along that they would want to bargain incredibly hard with us just to illustrate the point that they aren't merely our feeder club. It would seem from this ITK that this has proved a breaking point between the clubs. Any more info?

If we could get on loan and Damiao(£18m), Ba (£7m) and fletcher (£5m) that would represent a decent frontline in my eyes.

Pretty sure we'll send Bentley on loan. One year left on his contract, a club will accept paying his high wages in return for not having to pay more than token fee for his signing. Maybe QPR or West Ham.

I concur about Steven Fletcher - he has very impressive stats for a striker in such a poor side, possesses good movement, decent technique and is very adept aerially.

Nobody is saying he should be our starting striker but as a rotation striker who can come in and do a job later on in matches and most likely get a good run in the cups, we could do a hell of a lot worse than him - plus he is a good age in which if it doesn't quite work out for him then we should be able to recoup our outlay fairly easily.

Fletcher is shite.

One of them ones where he has put it a reasonable performance against us and people seem to think he does that week in week out.

If they replaced RVP with Fletcher I would also

But if they replaced Chamakh/Park with him, I wouldn't.
