It really wasn’t that long ago United fans were sweating on Maguire’s fitness before the Europa League final. He’s far better than his narrative would have you believe (and how many players have United made look shite in recent years? All bar Rashford and sometimes Fernandes & Casemiro?). Wages would be my concern but he’s a smart, talented defender.
I agree, I don't think he's the right fit for us but he's a better player than some of the criticism being levelled at him would have us believe.

No doubt he is a good defender but i think most of us and hopefully Ange know he doesn't suit our high line. So a hard no from me.

Yep, i wouldn't particularly want him either, but definitely think that if he'd cost £30m and he was putting in the exact same performances for a team like Brentford instead of United, he'd barely get any criticism and people would say he's a decent defender.

I understand the move for Harry Maguire to WHU fell though because he wanted his very high Man Utd wages contract paid up in order to move to WH and a lower wage.

I rather admire Maguire for this.

He’s saying to United that he won’t accept a deal whereby United get a fee but he has to cut his wages but instead United have to cut their fee so the buying club can afford his wages or he accepts lower wages but United compensate him out of the fee.

Still don’t want him as a player!

Working around the ban, essentially.

His ban got reduced a little on appeal to FIFA:

The window has been incredibly chaotic within the club today. I just received an update indicating that if United makes headway with Pierre, a potential that's gaining momentum, we might solidify our interest in Sofyan Amrabat. Fabio has suggested Amrabat as a more feasible option given the current expense associated with Paulinha . We also haven’t ruled out not replacing Pierre but ideally ange wants a replacement with Bentancur out still to fill a cm position.

I’m so confused with where we stand with HG tbh. It seems to be a major priority so would be surprised if this were to happen. I’d have thought we’d rather keep non HG positions available for guaranteed starters rather than squad rotation/depth roles.

A much more dynamic player than Hojbjerg and more a Postecoglou fit. Although might be another one who may be off to AFCON in Jan.

Personally would much rather just keep Hojbjerg for stability (and to avoid strengthening a PL rival) than sign Amrabat. If we can't keep Hojbjerg, then I'd rather the money be used for a top winger or striker, especially if our HG issues aren't disastrous (which you'd assume to be the case if we're thining about Paulinha/Amrabat).

Interesting update though, clearly going to be a v busy end to the window with a bunch of twists and turns. Going to try not to judge too much until it's all over.
