The system that got u nowhere since the time of pleat, arnesan and commoli? We dumped the system and got into the CL

Pleat and Commoli were political players, wanted to undermine the manager for their own agenda, Arnesen took the rouble and ran before his work had the chance to bear fruit, the right DOF would work

I'm sure every chairman has a price for every player, doesn't mean we would actually sell at that price though.

Even if we don't get 4th I will be very surprised if we lose any of the big trio (Modders, Bale, VdV) next season.

TBH, if we don't get 4th or above, I wouldn't be surprised if we did lose some.

As i have said before, i really do think it paramount we sign a "top" striker this window (summer would have been better)

Those Italian types always come out with rubbish, like the Palermo chairman saying we've signed Cavani and Kjaer and we hadn't even been in contact with them. In hindsight, Cavani would've been great.

thing is mate levy is far from stupid & he knows a lot more about players than people think...

he knows hulk fits our profile, age, abiities, salary, sell on value.....he knows this!

I would deal at £70m in a heartbeat tbh, would be stupid turning down that sort of money

Yes we would take it but we wouldn't really be able to do a lot with the money if we can't pay wages. We would be a weaker side.

Football is still all about what happens on the pitch not what happens in the transfer market.

Oh and on a side note, I can't see Inter ever offering the kind of money it would take and why the hell would Bale move to Serie A?

Yes but there is a difference between the player wanting to leave and your chairman proactively trying to tout a price for him....facilating it, encouraging it - whatever you want to call it.

To be fair a lot of the players that got us into the CL were bought by Arnesen and Commoli. Not taking anything away from Harry as we were quite obviously in a shambles when he took other.

But does he fit in terms of the fee we'd have to pay for him?

Good point. Serie A is not what it used to be. If Bale went anywhere it would probably be Man United or Real Madrid.

Could you elaborate there? We know from the financial results what we pay in wages and from what I recall we're no where near and our wage/income ratio is very good with lots of room from increase...?

I truly would love Carroll. While the money seems astounding, the issue is what he might be worth to us. Can he pull together the strengths of the team to make us better? Yes. Can he play in all competitions? Yes. Can he help us stay in the top 4? No guarantee, but I think he might.

Not picking on you mate  but...

Liverpool have paid double their initial bid to sign a partner for Torres...
Suarez is a good Tevez type player but Spurs felt he wasn't what we neeed, and he wasn't. He is not a traget man, more preferring to come in off the right flank and tuck in. We have Lennon in that role doing ok.

.

Not picking on you mate  but...

Whilst they may have paid double their initial bid, that bid was exstremly low, insulting i would say. they have it appears paid for, IMO about right.

Saurez led the line for Uruguay extremely well, I cannot except that "Spurs" felt he wasn't the one we needed, or worth getting, Sorry i just don't believe that

Think Harry is more than happy to distance himself from transfers in regards to the media. Sure he is fully aware, having managed unfashionable clubs in the past, that keeping your dealings out of the spotlight is imperative.
He said exactly the same thing at the end of last season, so i'm inclined to trust them.
