Am i the only one on here that doesn't want Carrol? I live in Newcastle and go to a few games and I can assure you he is awful. Slower than a week in the jail and a worse touch than Pav. A total donkey who needs long balls pumped to him to look remotely effective. If we pay anywhere like £20 million for him we have been had.

The Sun must have good sources. They beat the ITKers. Everyone was still concentrating on Forlan, Fabiano etc.

Ill-behaved, booze-glugging, violent nutcase let loose in London on big wages at an early age. What can possibly go wrong?!

Saying that, 'Arry's probably one of the most knowledgeable out there but even he can't keep up with the hoardes of FM'ers out there!

I have to say the last time I played FM it was still CM and Iniesta was 17 years old.

Totally agree. Even Newcastle fans aren't convinced. Similarly they're not impressed with his off field antics.

i cant believe harry rates carroll, would rather spend good money on suarez but all too late now

most of his goals are from a few games where they have already won the game and the other team already half gave up

Carroll could well be the next David Bentley. Big fish in small pond but when you put it in a bigger pond with bigger fish it goes missing

That's a risk we have to take at this stage of the season & window. Its either risk 10mill (ie we could sell him for 15mill still if he flopped id think) or risk our strikers scoring another paltry 6 league goals in the second half of the season

If we want to play attacking fast football allowing freedom to flair players like modric vdv and the like then we need an outlet

Andy Carroll is as good as they come at just that

Yeah not overly sold on Carol to be honest... But it does look like he's the only realistic target (in terms of fee + wages).

I still want us to try for Torres, I know its unrealistic, but you can't win if you don't play!!!

 me too it took me a while to work out what FM weas at first!
And now most of the players that I've got any "inside" knowledge of have now retired!!

News that we're thinking of blowing a wedge on Carroll may have just poo-poo'd my earlier post too. I've not seen much of him to think anything other than that he'd be handy but looking at some of the posts above...I'm getting worried a bit.

I agree we need an outlet but we need one with the pace to get in behind and that aint Carrol, believe me. Has anybody actually seen him play? Im baffled by the over hyped shit over him.

I thought we wanted a shiney new striker, Carroll surely fits that bill. If he scores more that those we already have, i'm happy and I tend to think that HR knows more about the capabilities of Carroll and Suarez than any of us on here. He clearly didn't think Suarez would do as well as Carroll and I'm with him on this.

This worries me...quick someone find a youtube compilation that makes AC look like the mutts, that'll ease my fears again and I'll go back to wanting him!Eek
Seriously, it's been so back and forth this window I don't know what to think but I genuinely fret about feedback like that above and the other posts that question AC's mental/personal state.
We cannot afford to spunk our striker pot on such a gamble IMHO.

I wasnt keen on Carrol tbh as I'd prefer a more technical striker, with good movement. However the nearer we get to the close of the window then Carroll is looking the likely option, and I always thought his injury seemed a touch suspicious.

Oh Hi, btw, I'm new here.

if we sign him he will be another Bent or Bentley and we will end up taking a massive hit on him when we try to flog him after a couple of hugely underwhelming years. He is seriously rubbish. A decent target man for a lower end Prem team at best and like i said Newcastles tactics are to literally hit him every time with a long ball/deep cross so that is why he has had relative success up to now. We will not (i hope) be playing this type of football to suit him...
