Yep. I do wonder if the whole negotiation team surrounding Vert - agents, chairmen, player, masseuses, hydrotherapists, bach flower remedy therapists etc etc - have done the deal but have been lost in a strange black hole somewhere in Belgium, unable to get out. How would we know? It's at moments like this, of Ken Campbell/Fortean Times epic strangeness, that we have to widen our understanding of Life and keep faith and hope alive. We will find them. They will find us. Nothing is lost forever. Somewhere soon a particular leaf will fall from a particular olive tree in, say, southern Italy, and with this delicate act the spell will be broken and all will be well again. There. That's optimism and one-ness for you all, this fine summer's day. God, I almost believe it myself.
