It was obvious at the time we were only signing him for this reason. Problem is, a free transfer is not cheap or a good deal if we didn't really need the player. We then can't shift them on in a year or 2 and they bloat the squad causing problems when we have pressing needs in other areas.
I really don’t see the problem with signing him. Being cheap isn’t a negative, it just isn’t a good reason to do a deal on its own. We needed depth and he had done well in his PL audition with Fulham

Daniel was trying to be smart-ass thinking they would agree to a sale or option in mind hoping for a delay in the deal to resume talks on it today as the player said yes to it and Barca said no with Brighton offering the terms required after being informed by mendes. The player was convinced to play there on a dead loan.
That seems like a good move to me to be honest. we should not be taking that kind of deal without an option. If stringing Barca/Fati along to see if an option materialised was the play, then so be it. If another club are happy to pay high wages to basically be his 'rehab club' for a year, then more fool them.

He is a Spurs fan isn’t he.

He looks like he has real unique quality with the way he can drive the ball forward, only really Grealish I think has that kind of ability or at least the manner in which they do it. If Ange rates Gallagher then fair enough, they're backing the manager, he has been linked for weeks. Nothing more than personal preference for me and would have been a lot cheaper too.

I believe Levy spent the Kane money before Kane left. It's gone.
But what about the money we made from getting in the champions league last year? We are told that qualifying is the most important thing in the world because of all the financial benefits! Show me the money!

We didn't need depth in his position

No manager should realistically arrive with the expectation that we'd be able to sign an up and coming player from Chelsea. Gallagher might be possible, but deals between us are very rare.

Got to say I’m starting to get worried that we’re done for incomings this window now, it’s the usual trope of not getting our unwanted players out therefore not enough time crap.

Id be astounded but equally expectant that Levy would think this is ok.

we spent the kane money before he went. essentially, there’s no budget if there’s no sales. depressing but levy will get away with it because everyone’s excited by our new coach

I wasn't joking. We don't have a striker left for the bench as it stands.
Surely Levy isn't THAT stupid to leave us that short, its one thing having loads of shitty players to cover positions, but its another thing entirely to have no one at all!?
