Well, not really, because that would be the very definition of conjecture.

One minute this place is telling us not to micro-analyse a small nugget into an epic story in the Kane thread, the next minute it's encouraging confirmation bias to turn ITK, which we are continuously told is "a pinch of salt", into absolute, undeniable fact.

If what you said above was true, we wouldn't have made 5 other signings.

Still doesn’t make your previous statement true, you’re a good poster and some of your posts crack me up but you don’t half like to spin stuff massively when it suits you, your comment about rewriting history over grealish earlier is typical of that

Edit: Also your last line is you putting your on spin on it

No, mostly just a long running discussion on why we should be annoyed about not signing Traore.
No. It's a long running discussion on why we should be annoyed that Levy interfered.

As DFF said:

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

It isn't though - I like to "enjoy" talking about football, spurs etc. I like to have a laugh on here and be positive. It seems like either people are currently insistent on being annoyed or negative about it all, when that wasn't really the tone when the window closed.. We signed 5 players, good players, are top of the league, haven't conceded a goal etc. Lots to be happy about.

Nonetheless, here people are, drilling home the narrative that it's somehow really worth getting angry that a guy that many were saying had no end product, comparing to sissoko etc. wasn't signed for £50m+. I mean, £50m+ is only a rough indication from the media, who knows how much it would have taken. I was pro-Traore, but it makes absolutely no sense why people are absolving Fabio around this and making it about the board. Let me elaborate...

If fabio wasn't here, people would give Levy pelters for making low-ball offers and leaving it until last minute, so why, is the annoyance not about why they left it beyond what was clearly too late (e.g. before we played Wolves, never mind TDD) to try and make sensible offers for Traore if it was that big of a deal. I enjoy ITK and I take it on board from mods that it's 'pinch of salt', so I like to lay out all pieces of the puzzle to make a judgement and none of it fits a narrative where he was one Nuno really wanted, and DL refused to sanction last minute, in a world where Paratici is not at least equally to blame.

The only way it makes sense for this amount of anti-board sentiment (which is usually the go-to thing) is if DL refused to sanction it for the entire window. But that isn't what we're being told. And what people (including your post) are suggesting is that he's meddling or overruling the DoF/scouts etc, when there's no sign of that on the other five signings. So, if you ask me, IF it was just traore, it fits together quite well that either Paratici wasn't fully convinced either, and was paying lip service to keep Nuno happy, or he mucked about and left it too late to get the finances approved. It just doesn't make sense as to the current interpretation of events.

The most important thing for me, regardless of the rights of wrongs of whatever happened, which nobody except those at the table will ever be entirely privy to, is that DL made this call, Paratici has accepted it and is still working for us, and we move on because everyone is as satisfied by the outcome as they need to be for that to happen. If he was throwing any toys out of the pram then I'd be amazed if he immediately did a little puff piece video discussing how the window went, where he instead sounded motivated, excited to continue working on transforming the squad, and thankful to everyone at the club for supporting him (name checking Levy).

Whatever happened is clearly water under the bridge, everyone is being professional adults, and we prepare for Palace, the January window and beyond. We can toss and turn over it as fans all we like, and clearly have, but the only thing worth noting at this point is that the decision was made, Tits accepted it and is still here, and we're moving forward positively. I firmly believe that as fans we whip up things to seem way more dramatic than they really are.

Some of the 'theories' being offered up justifying Levy's interference in here over the past few days are actually staggering. As is the refusal to see what people are actually complaining about as opposed to what they 'think' or want them to be complaining about.

Of course, we take everything with salt but fuck me, be honest, most of the bickering in here is down to people not seeing (or plain refusing to) what's actually very clear.
