I'd argue you need to vet your players better (in respect to Ndombele).

True, but even that isn't a guarantee.

For me, this window was and always should have been about building a strong base on which we can continue over the next couple of windows to add quality in needed areas.

Over the last few seasons we have added the below list of players - aside from a backup striker and Eriksen replacement (neither easy to do) we have been trying to address every other area of the pitch with quality.

N'dombele
Lo Celso
Bergwijn
Sessegnon
Clarke
Reguilon
Doherty
Hojberg
Rondon
Gil
Emerson
Pape Sarr
Romero
Gollini

We've probably brought the average age of the squad down a bit as most the signings are approx 22/23 yrs old i believe

Our DNA I think will be / now is:

Solidity, Industry & Pace

that’s why we have no playmakers now

On balance the transfer window was a good step forward in squad building and a small step forward in improving the starting 11.

A pretty good clear out of deadwood with just Doherty and arguably Winks left assuming Dier and Sanchez can maintain their resurrections.

Good investments for the future with Gil, Sarr, Romero, Emerson and Gollini.

Starting 11 improvements in Romero, Emerson and Skipp.

There are weaknesses with a lack of cover for Skipp, reduced options up front as while Bale wasn’t used well he still added value that hasn’t been replaced, and creativity reliant on Ndombele finding motivation, GLC staying fit and Gil settling in quickly.

So while I would have liked a bit more, overall I think it’s a pretty good outcome.

Ndombele and Gil say hello.

Problem is we need Ndombele to say hello from the football pitch, not the jacuzzi at the training ground *

*I have no idea if there is actually a jacuzzi at the training ground, but if there is you can bet that he is in it.

Aurier going & The D Word remains.

Life truly fucking hates me.

'Trying to fix all our problems in one window was always going to be tough'. (Frozen_Waffles)

Overall, I think we've done fairly well to get Toby, Sissoko, Hart and Aurier off the wage bill, which has freed us up to bring in some upgrades. Yes, there are still a couple of players who we need to get shot of but hey, by the looks of things, they're not going to get much playing time if any at all until the next window, so fingers crossed it won't impact on us too much.

I'm actually quite excited to see what the refreshed squad will look like on a match day. There's certainly more pace and aggression about us now, the distinct lack of which which worried me last season. The only obvious thing we haven't improved on as far as I can tell, is our midfield creativity, and we obviously can't rely on Ndombele to provide any of that (which Nuno seems to agree with...) so it'll be up to Lo Celso, Skippy and Winksy to seriously step up to the plate.

Overall, I'm OK with what we've done but I see it very much as a work in progress.

Think people are being unrealistic in thinking we will go for a striker in January. We don’t do January, and we generally don’t do strikers either. We won’t be making an expensive purchase at the most expensive time of the season.

The only deals we every do in January are opportunistic ones like Bergwijn.

Anyone know what this buy option is for CCV? Did we extend his contract? If not then he will be a free agent when the loan finishes so why would Celtic take up the option?

It was JM that didn't want Dias not DL
Nuno position was Traore would definitely help us - club and everyone on transfer committee (inc Nuno) tried to do but agreed 45-50M is a gamble in current climate of a global pandemic with lost revenue. All happy.
Yep. All that nonsense last night over nothing. Some people will never learn.

I would have hoped Fabio, with all his contacts etc, would have had another option for that position though.

I'm fine with the window.

Managed to shift a number of players that needed to go, that's been our biggest struggle over the past few years, and cancelling Serge's contract is a massive change of tack from Levy. We've shaved a bunch off the wage bill, and significantly bring down the average age of the squad.

Did we ever find out who the other player we were working on yesterday besides Traore and Emerson?
