I’m really looking forward to the next couple of windows, actually. There’s still work to be done, but it’s not as insurmountable of an endeavor as it appeared just a season ago. Still plenty of question marks, but with a couple of successful loans by our banished bunch, and hopefully positive developmental loans for our younger players, we can go into next summer with some fresh blood coming in that we already in our employ and potentially bring in funds on player sales. Obviously that’s quite a few things going our way, but I’m still encouraged and positive about it all.

We're better equipped for sure.

But Richarlison is effectively first choice to cover 2/3 positions. And with our fixture list that isn't exactly a plethora of options.

I think we needed another one.

If Lucas was more consistent and/or Gil had Conte's confidence that wouldn't be the case.
Yes agree... but if the club wants to wait for the right one... As Trix mentioned... then we have people enough... Lucas and Gil will play if needed when the window shuts. Conte hasn't frozen them out like N'Dombele...

That's also why Tanganga is still here.

We shouldn't buy for the sake of it, of course not.

I'm not complaining, merely pointing out my observations.

Overall its been a very good window, I'm just highlighting the stand out area of concern.

Might be because Moura is ill and Gil's future wasn't decided yet.
Gil's future was undecided because Conte doesn't rate him. He hasn't thrown him out like Tanguy/GLC, but he's by no means convinced.

Moura hasn't been sick the whole time, Conte threw him on at Chelsea towards the end. I just don't think that Moura is really in the reckoning to give any of the established front three a rest.

Listen, I'm happy with our business. I just think that there was more to be done and more we could have done. But I'm not in the office when calls are taking place. I just worry that as soon as we get one or two injuries, Conte is going to start talking about how he's unhappy with the squad. I truly hope I'm wrong.

I think one of the issues is that we all got a bit carried away when we heard about the £150m cash injection etc. Expectations went sky high and many ignored the fact that it would take more than one window to sort us out properly to compete.

Even though it feels a bit disappointing how the window has ended for us considering how we started it, we need to remember that we have had a great window with players like Richarlison, Bissouma and Perisic coming in. Udogie and Spence as players for the future and we havent even seen what Lenglet can do yet.

We’ve had a good window and if main targets aren’t attainable this time around then it’s wise to keep some powder dry for January as our signings in the winter window this year arguably made the difference and led to us finishing top 4. Factor in the season pauses from early - mid November until Boxing Day we only have just over two months of football to negotiate before we can tap the market again in January (and that’s with a two week international break in the mix). Of course there are lots of matches to be played in a short period but if Gil stays and Moura is fit our bench at least has attacking options. We also have Skipp fit again and Spence etc. Barring City and Chelsea I really don’t think we’re positioned adversely versus any of the other contenders. Let’s see though.

I'm hearing talk about future windows, lets hope & see if its under our current manager first and foremost... felt like this was the window to get the mains that Conte wanted. He's definitely missing 2/3. Depending on where we finish in the table, can see things getting ugly next summer.
I think it will be quite telling if after a few injuries he starts moaning about the lack of options and the need to invest further. Not that it isn’t true but one can’t say he didn’t have time to prepare. I’m assuming the reason we haven’t done so this window is because his ideal targets are unavailable, he wasn’t a fan of the available players and he is content with the options at his disposal. I guess it’s hard for us as fans to judge as I am pretty concerned about our attack and defence but if Conte feels he’s got what he needs to at least compete for top four then great. Not to say he wouldn’t like to upgrade but he must be happy enough which ultimately we should focus on and let that calm any fears we as fans may have.

Tbh I’m really surprised we didn’t manage to do a deal for Zaniolo if we really wanted him. Even with the injury I was really expecting us to go back in for him these last few days. Bastoni on the other hand I can understand as Inter are a complete nightmare to deal with.

Agree, if we are going into the season with Gil and Lucas as 5th/6th attacking options then they are going to have to play more then 5 mins at the end of games. If they don’t then Kane, Son and Kulu are going to be destroyed over the next month let alone by the WC. It’s just not possible for them to play that much in Conte’s system even with Richy rotating in and still hope them to be remotely effective. Also it would be nice to actually try and compete in the CL, not just phone it in because we are too exhausted from the league.

Not sure if its just me or whatever, but watching that West Ham game, Kulusevski is already looking a bit burnt out. He cant really survive 90mins in a high pressure PL game and shouldnt be starting every single game. Massive failure on the clubs side to get in an adequate replacement, or at least a quality flexible AM where we can become a bit creative. Could cost vital points for sure. Not forgetting a quality LCB we desperately need also.

Perisic could cover for him. So could Richarlison.

The frustration is we had the opportunity to really pull clear of Arsenal and maybe Chelsea but we haven’t and with a few injuries we are in trouble.

The window has been much better and there has actually been some planning. This is the sort of window we should have had for a quite a while, but we are still short in some key areas, especially given the ridiculous fixtures this year.

Anyone else experiencing the sensation of waking from an erotic dream only for the filthy action to happen right at the beginning of the dream, while the rest of the dream involved you walking in a foggy realm surrounded by amplified angst-ridden voices?
