What's the point of Southampton making a stand when they're this far down? I get that you have to start somewhere but the somewhere was the first time Liverpool pillaged them.

They'll sell.

Musacchio I feel is a more important signing for us than Schneiderlin and maybe Capoue's displays have tempered our desire to play ball with Southampton.

That being said, after Krueger's comments, I didn't expect the transfer to go ahead until later on in the window so still confident but first things first, get Musacchio in through the door and we are looking as strong a defensive 5 as I can ever remember in recent times.

He clearly doesn't want to play for them so I get the feeling Levy will wait till the latter stages of the transfer window when Southampton will be forced to sell at a lower price or end up with an unhappy player.

The demerit of such an approach is another team bidding before us. Arsenal in this case.

I wouldn't be surprised if having Bentaleb, Dembele and Sandro back in training along with Capoue, who has looked good in preseason, has made Poch pump the brakes a bit and allow for Levy to play the waiting game.

I agree with this to a point, but the overwelming likelihood is that the moustachioed one will need a season to get to grips with the PL and brush up on English to communicate with his fellow defenders.

The beauty of Schneiderlin is that he is ready to go out of the box, knows and has peformed well in the league, knows the system and boss, he'd just give us an instant boost in the engine room.

If MM can be done by the weekend then the stories of the huge issues over the price must have been massively, and unsurprisingly, exaggerated.

As for Schneiderlin, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I hope we have some alternatives lined up because it's a risky business waiting for deadline day.

We've had alternative noises that say otherwise. I appreciate this is Spurs, but I really do not expect all the business to be done on deadline day. I know I'm 'older', but do manage to remember this last one and nothing was done at all then really, so why expect anything different? I expect our business to be done well shy of the last day. Madness will of course happen on here but let's be realistic....:)

Couldn't agree more. He'd slide in effortlessly and if anything precipitate our transformation to Poch's style - pivotal area of the pitch etc.

I think we'll know if MS is coming in if Paulinho, Sandro or Dembele get shipped out. Levy won't be happy about paying a senior players wages if they aren't even in the squad. I know swap deals don't often come off but it may be a way for Southampton to save face here though.

If Soton won't sell MS maybe we should just keep what we have. Think we would still be a strong unit next season whether we sign Shneiderlin or not.

Well yes, that is certainly in his favour but we absolutely need to establish a strong defensive unit and a central pairing who will hopefully play the majority of games together.

Don't get me wrong, I'm splitting hairs as I sincerely hope we secure Morgan and ultimately, I think we will get both before the month is out.

I think that might be the case. Capoue has had a very good pre-season and Sandro looked very fit and sharp against Celtic.

I think the three Gards' is referring to correspond with what Matt Law wrote in the Telegraph. Schneiderlin, Musacchio and one of Rodriguez or Depay.

My guess is that these are the only deals Poch wants and anything else (i.e. Remy) will be something Levy just couldn't help himself too.

For the record depay has been a target for a while! Lists of targets and who is gettable! List has narrowed I still expect 3 more!
I'd be very surprised if we secured Depay on top of Schneiderlin and Musacchio but ultimately I trust the judgement from the committee.

You'd think we will have some out's soon - Dawson, Kaboul, Chiriches :(, Sandro, Naughton and Chadli all looking vulnerable.

Don't want to go against Gards, but I'm still hearing that J-Rod is the one Poch wants, and he'd rather wait to get him (even if that means January)than fill the gap with any of the other options thay may have been considered.
