Perfectly understandable as to why you didn't want to let the cabbages out of the bag! The truth was too horrible to reveal. Obviously waited until something better came along to defuse the cabbages bomb.

Evans actually is a very decent footballer (two footed, good passing ability and decent positioning) when fit and in form - sadly for the past couple of seasons he has had neither fitness or form.

I reckon we're expecting Bera to hand in a transfer request or go on strike. If this happens then the deal could happen a lot quicker than a week.

The DM we are after has to be Illaramerendi but after just learning that we were considering Evans and Hernandez than I wouldn't be surprised if it was some like Mikel

Sums it up perfectly for me. Great post. Was the cryptic started before Alderweireld joined us? If it was posted after he became a Spurs player then the interest in Evans is truly bizarre.

I would be happy with Hernandez just not instead of Berahino. I think he would make a great super sub and is more effective off the bench than Defoe was. Hopefully we get the Berahino deal pushed through this week then we can maybe sniff around for another striker on deadline day as well. I can see Hernandez going at a decent price at the end of the window.

On one hand it would be great to get our business all settled soon but on the other hand I like the prospect of a busy deadline day. We've had some quiete deadline days of late, we're due a busy one. No late night staying up on the final day either, all has to be done by 6pm so that will force Levy into action. I think ideally we get Berahino sorted this week and then a defensive midfielder early morning on deadline day and a late cheeky striker at the end of the day

That news actually makes me concerned about just how good Mitchells' Black Box algorithms are

I know the point of moneyballing is to find written-off players with hidden qualities, but those two are a bit too hard a stretch of the imagination to imagine being effective

Circumstances being Fazio agreeing to go as a makeweight perhaps?

Or even WBA getting in a couple of the other players they are said to be after (eg Marshalll - Cardiff's GK) so Pearce can point to all the new players and say he couldn't keep Berahino against his will but he's got lots of good new players in.

Quite a few 'circumstances' that might be relevant, just don't know which is correct !
