Wow - Hernandez and Evans are seriously mediocre.

That news actually makes me concerned about just how good Mitchells' Black Box algorithms are

I know the point of moneyballing is to find written-off players with hidden qualities, but those two are a bit too hard a stretch of the imagination to imagine being effective

Both easy to get as Man U (or LVG particularly ?) didn't want them ?

I'm hoping that we have higher targets though - and Evans has certainly been superseded by Toby/Wimmer and Trippier which is good news

I'm not normally any good at cryptics but I think I've got it this time

Mingewrangler
Minge translates as "Ball"
Wrangler is defined as "someone who argues noisily or angrily"

So, we're linked to somebody who argues noisily or angrily at bad balls possibly while waving their arms and pointing at nobody in particular..... We're re-signing Robbie Keane :woot::woot::woot:

Starting to wonder if the black box is empty!
I reckon that whenever the black box is mentioned, its actually just the 'Ride On Time' CD single, and our crack team of scouting analysts, just dance around a sony discman in an empty room before they pluck out a name using a similar game to Countdown...

Is Hernandez a 'No' now because we're so confident on Berahino, or because he's moving elsewhere? If its the latter our back-up plans seem to be dwindling.

Very fine with no Hernandez. I don't think Spurs is so far behind ManUtd that we'd desire one of their rejects, underlined by three managers. Rather try to find someone they don't have, than to find someone they have but don't really want.

Cabbages………."Two cabbages, one smaller than the other but from the same grocery"

Cabbage = Green for Ireland and Green for Mexico, smaller was 'little pea' same grocery was United.

As revealed previously, the first cabbage was Evans

The second Cabbage was……….Hernandez

I'd like to thank @Rob for putting us all through this lengthy agony View attachment 19820

So what does "Way too early for me to assist in your midfield conundrum" mean then?
It means its way to early for him to give any hints or names :p

There's still well over a week to go until the window closes and if there are several names in the pot, nothing looks close.

Wouldn't surprise me if we get none.

That cryptic proves one thing for sure

Cabbages come in many guises, they may take weeks to digest, but ultimately the result is inevitably a big steaming heap of shit

So what does "Way too early for me to assist in your midfield conundrum" mean then?

Presumably it means everything's up in the air as far as a midfielder is concerned and things will only become clear a couple of days before the window shuts.

Doesn't really fill me with confidence knowing how 90% of past windows have turned out.

I would be happy with Hernandez just not instead of Berahino. I think he would make a great super sub and is more effective off the bench than Defoe was. Hopefully we get the Berahino deal pushed through this week then we can maybe sniff around for another striker on deadline day as well. I can see Hernandez going at a decent price at the end of the window.

On one hand it would be great to get our business all settled soon but on the other hand I like the prospect of a busy deadline day. We've had some quiete deadline days of late, we're due a busy one. No late night staying up on the final day either, all has to be done by 6pm so that will force Levy into action. I think ideally we get Berahino sorted this week and then a defensive midfielder early morning on deadline day and a late cheeky striker at the end of the day :sneaky:

I'm hoping that Berahino is finalised soon and hopefully Illarramendi or Bender too - then if we get a deadline day deal on Hernandez then that's a nice little bonus :)

.......am I reaching too far!!?

I reckon we're expecting Bera to hand in a transfer request or go on strike. If this happens then the deal could happen a lot quicker than a week.

The DM we are after has to be Illaramerendi but after just learning that we were considering Evans and Hernandez than I wouldn't be surprised if it was some like Mikel

One of 3 or 4 possible scenarios that could help move it on quickly. So why this one in particular?
