At age 20 Son was more advanced than Zaha. At age 23 Son is still more advanced than Zaha. Whatever context you put that into, I fail to see how Zaha comes off as a great prospect for us to sign. :p

Looking back at my previous comments, I would actually say I have been adding context to other people's excuses for Zaha's lack of success/development...

I'm not arguing whether we should sign him I'm arguing that age comparisons are utterley meaningless, players hit peak at different times and have different trajectories, history is littered with top class football players peaking later than the 'norm' in their career.

There are the Ryan Giggs, Michael Owen's and Dele Alli's of the football world that blossom at a very young age and there are also the Les Ferdinand's, Ian Wright's and Didier Drogba's that don't actually make a mark until their mid 20's. As you rightly point out, every player has a different trajectory... I wouldn't have batted an eyelid if we'd let Kane go when he was 18/19

Zaha is only 4 months younger than Son. He signed for Man Utd the same summer (2013) that Son signed for Bayer Leverkusen. Son was an instant success while Zaha blew his initial opportunities (e.g. he started in the Community Shield and kept trying to beat fullbacks a second or even third time, for no apparent reason, instead of getting to the byline or crossing/passing), was dropped, then went out on loan and was sold.

3.5 years later, Son still looks like the better player, in my opinion. This is backed up by the stats, as Son has more goals (and more goals + assists combined) than Zaha, despite having played fewer minutes and started fewer games.

You may also be interested to know that back in 2013 Zaha (and Son) was the same age (20) as Alli is now.

Fair point didn't realise son was that young thought he was 26/27 tbh

Debatable imo. If son and zaha swap teams I think zaha would look a better player

If Zaha was called Smith I doubt he would get so much attention. He's another Townsend, a lot of huff and puff and very little end product. @dondo cone on how can u seriously think that? What have u seen that makes you believe s guy that has scored only 10 premier league goals over 80 odd matches is better than, our own player who has scored the same in half the games? I bet you thought Dos Santos was brilliant to?

Zaha has improved a lot this season and his stats are
18 games 4 goals 6 assists and a average rating of 7.51 compared to son 11 games 6 goals 3 assists and a average 6.98.
Also throw in the fact that zaha plays in a poor team that attacks less and has less of the ball than son does.
So that's why I think that to answer your question.

Il wait and see if he continues to improve or stutters again before I'd be willing to trade him for Son.

Where did I say I wanted son to leave? Ideally I'd like both son and zaha.
Son is a very good squad option to have.

And Townsend was another SWP. Young, pacey, English wingers seem to get over-hyped a lot. I still think Lennon was better than any of those three, even if he did lack an end product. He was certainly the best defensively...a contribution that often went unnoticed.

The stats back up my opinion. Son has contributed more goals & assists (combined), despite having played less and started fewer games.

Son has looked good at all of his clubs. Zaha has been decent this season (although far from outstanding), but otherwise has only really looked good when competing in the Championship.

Not this season in the league he hasn't (according to who scored website).
How many goals and assists would son have in a poor palace team?

I was talking about all competitions.

If you want to compare just PL stats, son has 1 fewer goals + assists (combined), but Zaha has played almost twice as many minutes, starting 18 games compared to Son's 11. Based on that, Son is the more productive player.

I'm not arguing zaha stats are better(even though his average rating is 0.5 better per game) but he is doing very well this season in a team that is struggling. Surely you must agree that it would be easier for a attacking player to score goals and make assists in a team that has more of the ball and more time attacking?

ITK talks of Levy not wishing to deal with Mendes.

I wonder why. Has something happened recently?

Who is Lamela's agent by the way?

How about Fazio? Was he or is he involved with Mendes? (The Fazio acquisition was a particularly poor one and I wouldn't be surprised if Levy had a bone to pick with whoever was involved in that deal).
