if the negredo ITK from yesterday is true then that sheds more doubt on the idea of 433 next season. Seville played with wide men and Ngredo is poachers that feeds off crosses. Signing him would suggest that we are sticking with more traditional wide men putting crosses.
Maybe the thinking behind Negredo is to offer a plan B when plan A isn't working. If we are changing to a 433 tactic it won't work against every team so Negredo will allow us to switch our formation.

Personally I think us being interested in Negredo says that Ade won't be leaving and he will be our focal striker in the new 433 formation

The Sherwood debate is tired.
He's part of the team like plenty of other people, seemingly cos we know who he is & a bit about him he garnishes unnecessary vitriol.

Plenty of other people work in high roles at the club. You don't get people debating the merits of Donna Cullen with such passion, and what the fuck does she know about football?

Cullen out! ;)

As I'm originally from Oxford, it's my moral duty to despise Swindon Town FC. My did we have to join forces with that bunch of idiots? (I'm sure they're all lovely people really)
From oxford too! Down to swindon, up the Ox's!!
So, Sherwood to become new manager of swindon, is that the converstaion of the morning in here?

New world class centre back and midfielder according to the OS:

"Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to Younes Kaboul and Sandro after their recovery from long-term injury."

maybe but Negredo would cost the best part of 20m so I doubt hed be the plan B.

I don't mean plan B in terms of transfers I mean in terms of tactics.

Buying Negredo and keeping what we have allows us to play different formations for different games and not be a team that is predictable in how we willplay

i'm skeptical of levy paying up £20m+ for a 22 year old, so i'd've thought there's no chance he'd pay that for a 28 year old.
Absolutely. Not buying this 'itk' at all.
Daniel Levy has a strategy and our signings will almost always fit that strategy. They'll either be:
a) Players in their early to mid 20s with significant potential and a high chance of their value remaining the same or increasing, eg: Paulinho. See also Modric, Kaboul, Sandro, Vertonghen, Lloris....
b) Older 'moneyball' signings, where a player whose ability or stats are greater than their relatively low price, due to being an unfashionable player eg: Dempsey, Nelsen, Saha, or unwanted by their club, eg: Van Der Vaart.

Sherwood is an intergral part of the team. He does not seem to want a managers job though as we had the hoo-ha on how to replace inglethorpe mid season. Sherwood left it up to mckenna and ramsey to cover the u21s/u19s.

on the transfer front gomes has been given permission to speak to a few teams. He is a fussy bloke so no guarentees he will go sadly.

You would think in a world cup year, he'd want to be on that plane. I would be interested to see how much we can get for him.

Negredo is not really a poacher though so much as a very complete main striker, he worked well with Freddie and Fabiano at different times earlier at Seville and althoiugh they still had Navas then they built far more attack through the midfield. True one of Negredo's strengths is his finding space in the box to get his shot away, but often playing the lone role he'll drop deeper, hold the ball up then lay off and get forward in and around the box either linking up an exchange of passes or making a near or far post run in the box. For a big guy his link up play is pretty good and his intelligent off the ball movements mean he'll be aware of a player like Bale and draw defenders away.

All that said I still can't really see how we could play a 4/3/3 with lets say three "attackers" with our current options, even if we played one main striker which isn't going to happen with Bale playing a free attacking role rather than a wing role because a central midfield of say Paulinho, Dembele and Sandro just doesn't have the creativity and we would be left with just Lennon as a constant creative threat and Bale as an occasional creative threat, not really enough and who will be getting the ball to them?

I assume we must be looking for a creative cm and hopefully another creative winger option or at least a left back who can provide a decent supply of crosses and passes when he gets forward

another cm? how many do we want exactly? i'd hope central midfield is firmly at the bottom of the list of priorities now.

I certainly hope it's not, because with Hudd looking to be on his way we have no real creative balance. Carroll might develop but needs a year on loan to get some regular playing time and experience and the rest just don't have it. It's not about numbers but about players qualities and having the right balance and frankly we don't
