Great read @HappySpur ! A good reminder of past forum meltdowns. I think I've had my avatar since the days of akqayid's "Goodnight" debacle.
These days most meltdowns are due to JJ saying a deal is off. Or generally not saying what we want to hear! :p

Is it the ghost of meltdowns future next to teach us the worrying future that might befall us if we continue to blindly follow ITK to the ends of the Earth (as I myself am not afraid to admit doing)?
We already know what happens to tiny Tim (and his gilet).

I think the best moments have been the VDV deal and anything on Friday afternoon by Frankie Arnesen.

Was it POTL that once lost the plot after being questioned on his information? It's definitely a tough job being ITK.

Anyway thanks for the hard work on this, looking forward to the next installment.

My apologies for snapping yesterday. There was so much positive feedback and I was tired and frustrated after working 14 hours on that over a number of days while programs were running at work. And so I focused on things that were meant to be helpful and thought of them as criticisms.

Woke up and took off my panties and put on some big boy britches today. Thanks for all the feedback that has been positive and/or helpful.

But before any of his failings or successes, there was the infamous tree incident. This is where he climbed an oak tree outside of the old training grounds and snapped a photo of Davids. This was a time when the press had no idea if Davids was joining us. And with that, a legend was born.

So, was there an actual tree? Yes, there was an actual tree.

was the photo ever posted? would love to see it.

This is my first post having lurked for an awful long time!! I didn't realise how long it actually was until I read this! Absolutely great read, and brings back memories of getting stupidly excited at the prospect of the likes Damiao, kjh, lasana diarra. The one I wanted more than anyone at the time was Rossi. Think before his injury he could have been a star for us. I distinctly remember the evening that we were linked to rafa. A player that I had been banging on about to my dad for about five years (admittedly, atleast 90% of my scouting had come from FIFA!) . I thought that it was too good to be true and like others was straight onto spurs comm. one of the most exciting nights ever. Id just like to add, that with this being my first post, I'd like to thank a&c, stoof and his stamp, and all the mods that keep this place going. You guys do a great job and it really is appreciated! Donation will be coming your way very soon:)

Great work @HappySpur!

I was a regular on COYS (before seeing the light) and remember the POTL and Peanut posts. I remember every time POTL so much as farted there would be pages and pages of dancing bananas...we did hang on his every word over there.

Great memories of ITK madness. Cheers (y)

It might have been way back when, but if it was, it came down quickly as Ben was in a position that he could have gotten him in some hot water. So no luck on that pic

I wasn't around in 2004, but I did look. Most of this site didn't really roll out until 2005. I think it was just Rob and a select few during development during most of Arnesen's slew of signings in 04. So I can't vouch for Arnesen's relationship to FTF. If you can find links, cool.

Just to add to this (great thread!), we started SC in 2002 but the server died about a year in and we lost everything so everyone had to reregister. That's why a lot of people have a registration date from the same day (in 2003 if I remember right).

We didn't really start the ITK stuff until a few years in though so 2005 sounds about right.

Was it just you who first created SC...? That's what I've always thought...

I don't want to take this thread too far off topic so I'll do a proper history of SC at some stage (if you search you might find one we did a while ago).

I made SC as lilywhite (one of the original admins) had a spurs group on a social media type thingy but it had outgrown it so I set up SC as a forum/news site and he brought across members from there. He then went around spamming us everywhere on all the other spurs sites and building up the member list while I handled all the technical and day to day stuff.

Nice. You've certainly created a wonderful site! It's come far! :)
