He has just scored as well
Goal and 2 assists. Been great! He has just scored as well
You stated the reasons I don’t want and don’t rate Dumfries. Porro is a different matter. 30m for Dumfries? No thank you! Porro yes.Dumfries is a weird one for me. On the one hand, I’ve watched almost every single minute of Inter football over the last 4 years since Candreva was playing the RWB position, and he is technically average. His first touch is inconsistent. He doesn’t seem to have mastery over the ball. Isn’t much of a 1v1 threat offensively nor great there defensively despite his athletic talents. Crossing is hit and miss. But he is such an obvious Conte player and it’s why he was and is on my list despite his poor form for Inter so far this season. Experience but not too old. Above average athlete. Imposing size which he uses really well to dominate aerially. Fantastic box mover, run maker, and back post threat. Good finisher. Competent in link play so should be fine with the automations in our system. Stats love him offensively, and he is a constant threat based off the eye test too. For me he’s a combo of Emerson with goal threat and Doherty with athleticism. Good athletic profile who is a threat to finish off moves due to his attacking instincts and finishing touch, but the finer technical aspects are mostly poor. Is that good enough? For me it’s a yes but for example I think Porro (no. 1 choice for me) is just on another planet technically and has the athletic and attacking talent as well.
If the options are Dumfries in January or Emerson until the end of the season and Porro in the summer, I'm taking Dumfries in January.
I agree with @Hercules as I have mentioned prior. You point out his weakness very well at the beginning and on top of that one has to equate for the step up to the PL where these weaknesses will be even more exposed. We need a wing back who excels going forward which makes Porro a superior choice in regards to his strengths.Dumfries is a weird one for me. We desperately need to address the RWB position in January and Dumfries is one of the most productive fullbacks in all of Europe in terms of end product. 98th percentile in goals scored and 84th percentile in quality chance creation. Emerson, by contrast, ranks in the 50th and 59th percentile of those two stats, despite playing in a setup that leans so heavily on the wingbacks. Of course Dumfries would add something.I agree with @Hercules as I have mentioned prior. Dumfries is by no means bad but I don’t ever judge a player by their performances for international football, for example Lo Celso is an exceptional player for Argentina and a real miss for them this winter. If anyone here had been watching him they would want him. There are plenty of players who look world class on international level but can never equate that to club level. And it’s not as is Dumfries ever looked exceptional for Conte whilst he was there. He certainly looked better the second half of the season but he was still inconsistent.
I just feel that if we are going to get a new RWB then we need to pick one that will add a lot and I don’t think Dumfries will.
Totally understand this view.I agree with @Hercules as I have mentioned prior. Conte hasn’t coached Dumfries. As much as I’m sure we can all agree that Porro would be a great option I simply don’t see it being an option we pursue…
I think Conte won’t find him physical enough, won’t trust him coming from the Liga NOS or hasn’t coached him prior in a way that he has with DD
maybe in a summer window he could be an exploitable option, but I seriously think that DD represents a solid option with decent output, readymade for the league whom Conte has prior knowledge of him…
helps that they allegedly want Emerson and therefore a deal could be worked there
I like Porro, and think he is everything out WB’s should be, but I honestly see no way that he comes here in Jan
Yep good player underrated by some on hereGoal and 2 assists. Been great!
100% agree. Cannot believe I got 6 disagrees when I suggested he’d be an upgrade on Emerson and we should go for him if Inter need to / are open to selling.Dumfries showed more attacking nous in the first half against the U.S. than Emerson has done in his entire time at Spurs. He also has the physical profile of a Conte wingback. Get him in.
For me it wouldn’t make sense. I don’t see them being happy to rotate and i also don’t see us spending 60/70 mil on the RWB spot which is what it would cost combined. I’d personally rather wait and get the better option even if that means putting up with Royal. But really I don’t see why we can’t play Spence and then get Porro or get Porro now.Totally understand this view.
would only ask: if we can upgrade Doherty in Jan to get Dumfries, and then upgrade Emerson in the summer with Pedro Porro would that work for you?
Great post ?We desperately need to address the RWB position in January and Dumfries is one of the most productive fullbacks in all of Europe in terms of end product. 98th percentile in goals scored and 84th percentile in quality chance creation. Those stats are taken from club matches, so he isn't just performing on international duty. I accept that there are players out there with greater technical ability who have higher potential than Dumfries, but he's attainable in January and would represent a massive upgrade over Emerson, who is woefully unsuited to Conte's football.
If we go out and get an even better player, great, but I'd happily take a player with Dumfries' physical profile and proven track record of end product in a top league.
Been linked with Josip Juranovic of Celtic apparently. Could cost as little as £5M in January.
I know nothing of him, but he is a Croation international. 27 y/o RB, who looks like peak Dani Alves in the 2 min YouTube video I watched.
I saw us linked in the Glasgow times, although it seemed more opinion/suggestion. Also if you search for him, there are a few stories suggesting they will be cashing in on him as he only has 6 months left on his contract.Linked via where? Am curious.
