Over rated by pundits, under rated by (majority) of Spurs fans.

He was never my favourite player, but he was still a player that I had a hell of a lot of respect for. The game moved on, we moved on, but it's a shame that JD couldn't move his game along. But to be fair to the little fella he tried to.

He has to be considered a legend for his goal stats alone, for which I thank him for as he was part of our journey to bringing this fine club out of the wilderness again.

Thanks for the goals Jermain, good luck in the MLS, I have a feeling you might just tear up that league.

Jerm, I am very happy that you have come through this club; you seem likeable, and you have had some fantastic moments here.

I think you'll enjoy life a bit more, on a personal level, away from LDN. Death etc. have obviously had an impact on you and your family in recent years.

You seem like you enjoy the night life, so if people like Drake are welcoming you, I'm sure your future will be areet pal!

Hope you keep us in your thoughts, like we over here will.

Best of luck, JD;)

*Edit. My favourite moment is when we hear Jermain Defoe he's a

He'll get another few PL starts and hopefully some goals for a proper send off.

There also bound to include a few offsides for the true send off.

I went to his debut where he scored a great opening goal to instantly become a fan favourite

I was the Wigan game were he equalled the PL record for goals scored in a game

I remember some amazing goals like his strike against Arsenal in the 4-5 loss and his bicycle kick against Man U

He was a victim of his own potential because while he always was a good performer for our club he never really lived up to our early expectations because I think most of us wanted and expected him to develop into a really top level striker and for one reason or another he never really improved as a player

That being said he scored a lot of goals for us over the years and deserves the respect and fond farewells of each and every Spurs fan

Jermain Defoe = Yido

Good luck in Toronto, I hope he scores so many goals out there he becomes an all time legend of the American league

Absolute brilliant player for us. Some would say he was over-rated in the grand scheme of things but I think for our club he was one of the best players over the last 15-25 odd years.

Really good player who was so committed to the club as well...will really miss him.

Jermain Defoe.

The same player we signed from West Ham in what seems like a lifetime ago now.
  • Had a good left foot, chose not to use it.
  • Could pass very well, chose not to.
  • Had the pace to reduce the times he got caught offside - didn't improve.
Whether it was a failure to effectively develop his talents from a coaching point of view or through personal development, we'll never know.

But, I think, the reason Spurs fans are so divided is that he is probably one of the most naturally gifted forwards of his generation - he just never moved his game on. Everyone that knows anything about the game can see how good he could have been, a 30 goals a season striker, but for whatever reason, he just never made it happen.

Regardless, a fantastic servant for the club, who, in the grand scheme of things, we've made a profit on in Transfer fees and a good goalscorer.

Good luck JD.
