The 5 goals against Wigan but also biting Mascherano and getting away with it is quite high on the list!

Scored more goals for the club than any other player in the last 40 years, if you can't respect that then i'm not sure what you can respect!

Good luck to him and i hope he does well!

Yellow flags should be issued to our supporters for his final appearance, to be raised in this fashion in tribute as he leaves the pitch for the last time.
Absolutely! I wonder if he would see the humour in that?

If the net between the sticks was made of 'keepers and defenders legs he'd have scored a tonne more !

Good luck JD, I hope you bang 'em in for fun !

When I first read that I thought you meant you were going to have to rename your kids goldfish, as in goldfish come here, your mother wants you.

Amazing the lack of respect Defoe gets. He played a big part in our shift from mid-table mediocrity, to competing at the top end of the table. Yes he can be incredibly frustrating to watch, but he's also a player that is always capable of producing a goal from nowhere, like this gem from last season:

He can be frustrating in the extreme. But I have always had a soft spot for him. As Spurger says above he could conjure something out of nothing. He never gets the appreciation he deserves for the goals he has scored or for the position he hold in our "all time" scorer lists.

The way he could just shift his bodyweight from one side to another was extraordinary. I will also remember how he often just closed his eyes and banged them in. Often from outside the box. Will miss him.

Top man, and will always be welcomed back at the Lane. As a player, frustrating, not as good as he thought he was, and didn't understand you have be more than a finisher in the modern era.

A much underrated, and yet overrated striker. I always liked Jermaine, and I've always thought he was one of the more natural and instinctive finishers in the top flight. I'll never forget his head down charges at goal, and subsequent smashing of the ball into the net from 20 yards... his piece de resistance! But he has always found himself second fiddle to better players in the squad: Keane, Berbatov, Adebayor... yet I always felt that if he was given that first choice role and his head he would have been a 20 goal a season striker. When he hits form he simply always scores. Last season he was fantastic for the first 3 months before his injury.

He's had to deal with a lot of shite in his personal life in recent years, so I don't blame him for wanting a complete change and to get away from it all.

I wish him all the best, and would welcome him back anytime.

Yiddo.

He's gone to a better place (for him)...one where the punters understand less about the off-side rule than he does :)

Enjoy your pasturage, JD< and thanks for all the goals.
