Don't know if there has been a subject about this, but here goes:

Why don't Harry bring on a left fitted player instead of Modric..... Gio, Bale

What is he afraid of.... Know it has been two hard matches, but what did we expect from those two matches to start with ?

Honestly can't understand WHY Gio Dos Santos hasnt been given a run on the left. His as grifted with the ball as Modric in tight spaces....and it seemed such a simple decision to make from Redknapp when Modric got injured.

Gio is a right forward

Bale is a left back

Kranjcar on the other hand is a left midfielder so we should start using him in Modric absense

Maybe you are right, but Bale is ok going forward and is'nt Gio good with both feets?

Kranjcar your right :)

I'd start Kranjcar there in the next game. He enjoys playing in that position.

Still not sure where Bale's best position is. Even on the cross-bar challenge he described his position as "left side", so there is every possibility that he could end up as a left-midfield player.

As much as I'd like to see Gio get a game, it looks increasingly like Harry simply doesn't rate him enough. I hope I'm wrong and we see him get a few chances in the next few games.

One thing that does seem clear to me though, and that is that when Modric comes back he should go back on the left, rather than being moved to the centre.

I'm really all for Gio playing, but Harry has a point in this interview...

Redknapp said: 'The system they play with the diamond is very difficult to play against. If you play 4-4-2 you get outnumbered in the middle of the park, if you play two men out wide they'll rip you to pieces.'

We had to play that formation to counter Chelsea and it worked for the first half an hour.

Not say it was completely right, but I can see the theory.

bale would have been a good option for the left of the diamond. o'hara even better. Was chelsea away though so not too worrying. There are many more games come

the tactics were nowhere near as bad as some will have you think

we were well in the game until Ledley got injured then Charlie had to move inside and Drogba had a field day

We really do miss O'hara for these types of games. To be honest this game is a right off for me, if you're playing the top side in the premiership on form and points and lose both your central defenders to injury midway through the game, you'd be asking for a miracle to win.

The problem was the 2 injuries which robbed Arry of his ability to change the system (given that Crouch is nailed on to come on). My guess is we would have seen Gio on for Keane at some point

As long as Redknapp is in cahrge, the only way Keane will come off is in a wooden coffin.

Not many teams play 2 out and out wingers. It could only work against very weak opposition, or if we play 1 up front. I think Kranjcar is the most natural replacement for Modric but i'm not sure why he hasn't started there yet. Hopefully we start him there against Burnley.

Personally I think 'Arry isn't playing GDS just to annoy people on Spurs Community. I mean, it couldn't be for any other reason as far as I can see. Picks his team for the sole reason of getting on the tits of a few Yids. Nothing to do with his many years of top flight management experience. Nothing to do with knowing his players and their abilities and state of mind through seeing them every day in training. Nothing to do with how he is preparing to tackle the opposition. And you've gotta admit, it works. Now if only he'd stop being so childish he'd see that we have plenty of people here capable of giving him the advice needed to win the league. Stop fucking about 'Arry, listen up.

I would argue that against Doncaster Bentlety was better than Gio when he switched to the left, so surely he should play before Gio.

That's not an argument mate, it's fact. But again, it's not cool to like Bentley, so let's opt for GDS.

I think it is plain to see that we all think Gio, Bentley, and Kranjcar (why did we buy Kranjcar again?) are better options on the left than Keane - Problem is that leaves us with two options for Keane - playing 442 up top with Defoe or, on the bench - There was no way we would play a traditional 442 agaist Chelsea, and there was no way harry would leave him on the bench - expect to be frustrated for a while yet!!

We bit Liverpool's arm off when they coughed up £20M for Keane, Unofortunately we when sowed their arm back on, patted them on the head and gingerly led Robbie back "home" with wild promises of Captaincy and never getting dropped.

he may offer something to the dressing room, his movement off the ball may have contributed to our great opening to the season, but in football, and maybe it's just me? i like to see players actually do something with the ball (call me a weirdo...)

I would have been more than happy with just Defoe, Pav and Crouch, with any number of smaller midfielders who can play off a big man if Defoe gets injured.

Levy: Welcome to Spurs Harry. I know you like to do things your own way so I've scrapped the system of Director of Football despite the fact that I'm a proud man and I've been lauding it for years. Anything to help you do the job the way you see fit.

Oh, by the way.

I've bought Robbie Keane back.

You've got to play him every week.

And make him Captain.

And mow his lawn.

But apart from that Harry, you have a complete free reign here at Spurs to do things your own way.

If it hadnt been Utd and Chelsea then Gio or Kranjcar would have got a game, and it will be interesting to see what the lineup is against Burnley, Bolton, Pompey and Stoke (and Preston I guess).

I can see why Keane was picked, he works hard but the team unit was not working properly against Utd. Against Chelsea I thought he had some nice touches and linked up well, and was better than JD, irrespective of the one on one miss JD had in the first half.

We still play better football with Keane up front though. Maybe he doesn't do anything particularly special and thats why people are critical of him. But he drops off and links play up, which results in us playing good football. He does a lot more of the simple things now, but it is effective in the way we play. He shouldn't play on the left mind, unless we have a 5 man midfield. But i think Keane is being asked to do a specific job and he's doing it. He has always been at his best when he plays off a big striker like Mido or Berbatov. But with Defoe on fire now, he has to drop off a lot more and it means we dont see him making those clever runs beyond the defence anymore. And that was a big part of his game.
