Brighton losing is big. They've still got to play United, Newcastle, Arsenal, City and Villa too. I think we should manage to finish above them to make the Conference League, and still have an outside shot at the Europa if we can pull off an upset at Villa Park.

In some ways I'd almost rather play the Conference League. More of a chance to rotate, much better chance of winning a trophy at last. Downside is slightly less money/prestege and not having the route to UCL by winning it - but I do fancy us under new management to get 5th in the league anyway which should be enough with the new format. Certainly not that bothered either way, but don't want to come 8th and miss out entirely.

Trouble is the more we rotate the worse we get. We wont get far in either if we make too many changes. I would want us to keep enough first team players for the quality to be there. Just rotate a few players each game. If we could play Europa and field a team like it's CL we could go all the way.

Joy. And there I was thinking I'd cancel my BT subscription.

Emery has just about killed Gerard’s career. One purchase of a 30 yr old full back for about 13m .Playing a 38 yr old, Ashley young at full back. The team are flying. However by next season they will need some better defenders. Other coaches will work them out, just as they have done with us.
Unai is this seasons Antonio Conte.
Emery correctly identified that you need to win the midfield battle. Shifting to box midfield and protecting the defence, whilst simultaneously playing attacking fullbacks and using them as the outlet.
It’s only conte who doesn’t understand this

everyone else this season has been trying to find ways of getting extra players into midfield (inverted fullbacks etc) except us

As unlikely as it is, after Sunday it's is theoretically possible to be in front of Man United, but there is the small matter of us winning tonight and at Anfield and them losing at home to Villa. Not impossible but in the scheme of things and based an recent form highly unlikely !!

If Mason and the players managed that kind of turnaround in 7 days, that would really set tongues wagging, especially outside of our own fanbase.

Admire your optimism
Last night I looked at the table and could only think about the chance of Brentford overtaking us

I'd rather not be in Europe at all.

Is it 5th & 6th for Europa ? Or does it depend on who wins the cups?

5th is europa and winner of FA Cup is Europa. If winner of FA Cup is already in Europa or CL via the league then 6th gets in. Just not sure what happens is west ham win conference. Its been said to death but can't find it

West Ham get a Europa spot and nothing else changes. So it's still 5th and 6th to Europa, 7th to the Conference League
