Totally right.

Is it 17 games to reach final? Compared to 38 league games.

Not to say EL win would be anything approaching easy. But with a few bits lot of luck that can happen in a cup comp you can get away with not having such highly consistent performances as you need to get a top 4 PL finish.

I would always have taken winning the EL over not winning the PL and now that part of the prize is CL qualification I'm even more for it.
