I've said it before and i'll say it again, good teams are made up of the right characters.

It is a vital ingredient of a successful team to have players with the right attitude and desire not just ability, even Barcelona for example have an amazingly talented team but what they also have is 11 -18 players with a huge hunger and desire to win and be the best, same with the likes of City with V.Kompany, Chelsea with that twat Terry etc.

Since the team we built under Harry we have lacked leaders when we had the likes of:
Friedel, Dawson, King, Parker, VDV, Keane etc all of whom are proper professionals and leaders in their own right.

We saw the spirit and glimpses of a good performance against Hull and I think a lot of that was down to the players who didn't play: Kaboul, Ade, Capoue(more ability issue than attitude)/

Kaboul was a poor captain choice he doesn't focus enough, gives up too easily, is lazy and isn't a great defender on current form. Adebeyor has an erratic and poor at times attitude, never wanted him at the club and would love to see him not play again and get sold ASAP.

Players who we need to keep picking from now until we sort this mess of a squad out are:
Lloris, Walker(when fit), Mason, Lennon, Eriksen, Kane, Soldado, Chadli.

Not many of them are real leaders but they'll give you 110% every game and more often than not some decent quality.

I'd be happy is Adebeyor, Capoue and Kaboul never wore a Spurs shirt again, especially Ade and Kaboul.

Good win vs Hull regardless of if they had 10 men or not.

Lets get behind the team on Sunday and hope we can kick-on vs Everton!

I know I keep banging his drum, perhaps to an extent that some might not take it seriously soon.

But I believe Lamela could be added to your list on character.

Works hard, wants to win, doesnt shy away, despite still adapting to the physicality it is something he is more than happy to get involved with.

Not often attributes that you'd attribute to a south american flair player.

Absolutely. He's been our most consistent in terms of putting the effort in - under Pochettino.

Bollocks bollocks bollocks bollock bollock bollocks, all this 'character' nonsense is just an easy song to sing when things aren't going quite right when the real issue is always more complicated, all based on facial expressions and guesswork. It's a cliche, nothing more. The last two years Daws got away with murder because he shouted a bit after he fell on his arse for the thirteenth time that month while staring into a floodlight instead of tracking someone. Kaboul doesn't have a problem with passion, he has a problem with brain farts and occasionally not understanding where his own feet are.

Do you know what's more important when it comes to playing football matches? Being good at football, add in a base level of commitment (of which 99% of professional players manage) and you can win all of your games!! Yay! If you want commitment, try greyhound racing, they're bloody mad for catching that rabbit, shit when it comes to implementing a decent offside trap though. I'll take an entire team of Berbatovs over a team of David Batty's, because i like football, not round ball floor rugby.

Or something, i dunno, it's late, I'm in a grump, it's all your fault.

Soldado-captained Valencia
Chiriches-captained Romania
Fazio-captained Sevilla
Vertonghen-captained Ajax
Lloris-captained France

Character and leadership shouldn't be an issue

One thing I noticed Sunday was that both Lamela and Eriksen were showing far more upper body strength now than in their early days here, Now I'm not suggesting that they have been working out with weights, but simply are adjusting to the physicality. It's all about how you adjust your body to deal with it, I guess a bit like learning to tighten your fists and lock your wrists when you are doing bag work. When you don't do it properly your strike is weak and it can be painful, you don't need to be any stronger to do it right you have to be aware of when you need it and adjust the tension in your body and ensure you are well balanced
It's making it harder for opponents to shrug them off the ball which gives them better chance to retain possession

Rakitic captained Seville not Fazio although when Rakitic moved to Barca he was a player under consideration for the role before he moved

Unless Levy understands this then we're screwed.

Evidence shows that he simply doesn't appreciate what these type of players bring to the team.

At the game on sunday I saw the best character we had for years wearing a hull city shirt. Then I saw Fazio lumbering around and thought is this really an improvement on Dawson? then i remebered he played for valencia and has a foreign sounding name so he must be better

How are you defining "mature " and "children?"

Blimy. This is like a book I used to read that went "in a dark dark street there was a dark dark house and in the dark dark house there was a dark dark room and in the dark dark room there was a "....etc etc ect
