Because he's a grown up amongst a load of kids

You wouldn't know it, given his petulance and lack of bollocks.

You need a player as captain that others will at least have some faith in. He needs form before that could ever happen. He is the Kaboul of forwards, but without the history, the Fazio if you will.

Oh yeah, I def wouldn't make him captain. Has to be Lloris 100%

Blimy. This is like a book I used to read that went "in a dark dark street there was a dark dark house and in the dark dark house there was a dark dark room and in the dark dark room there was a "....etc etc ect
LOL, well the words you're using have no definition to them when used in this context. Obviously we have no children in our team, as in boys who have no yet hit puberty, so I'm wondering where you're drawing the line between being a 'child' and being considered mature. And it looks like you can't explain yourself.

Seriously?

I don't know if you have the term in Australia but have you heard of "men against boys"?

It's not supposed to be a strict definition, it's to do with character and application. It's a saying.

Poch has been here five months and things are starting to happen within the squad and leaders will appear from this natural friction in the group, I believe.

This friction might well have not been discouraged by Pochettino as it tends to sort the men from the boys in a natural manor.

Its why I believe Kaboul as captain was good move because it had little or no chance of working long term. Allowing real leaders to emerge from the group. If they are there.

Ade and Kaboul look like they failed to grab their opportunities.

Yes I have, in the context of a football match, where one team demolishes the other, it can be said that it was LIKE "men against boys", a simile. But how is that relevant in saying that Soldado is the only mature one in a group of children?

They're essentially saying he has the character, the application, maturity and level headedness amongst a load of players who lack any form of leadership. Whilst I completely disagree with that, it doesn't require a strict definition.

It just that he was singling him out as the only one, which wouldn't make sense as there are others with
equal leadership. I'm sure he was generalising though.

i think the point i'm failing to make is that its good to have a mature head amongst a lot of try hards.

Would be great to have another Edgar Davids back in the squad. At the moment Soldado is one of the older players who also seems to side with the younger generation when it comes to trying to succeed.

Soldado has played football for a long time so you'd hope he is one of the more sensible ones because thats how he comes across to me. I don't think he's once thrown his toys out the pram and just wants to do well, despite it not quite happening.

I think this is the team I suspect would put the most effort in when called upon.

Lloris

Walker Dier Vertonghen Davies

Lamela Eriksen Mason Chadli

Soldado Kane
* Lloris is a leader and would be my captain
* Walker is always hungry and 100% committed all the time. One of our better players.
* Dier is young and hungry and most likely best pairing with Vert
* Vert is there because with quality around him he is immense
* I put davies in because I think he has the slight edge on rose for quality
* Lamela is there for his energy to chase
* Eriksen because he will pull something out of nothing and
* Mason never gives up
* Chaldi is powerful and has a good shot on him
* Soldado is there because Ade shouldn't be
* Kane has a lot of heart and is a fighter to the end.

At the game on sunday I saw the best character we had for years wearing a hull city shirt. Then I saw Fazio lumbering around and thought is this really an improvement on Dawson? then i remebered he played for valencia and has a foreign sounding name so he must be better

If you want to start spouting the usual dumbarse reverse xenophobic drivel then at least get his past clubs right.

said it before an armband doesn't make you a leader, you don't need a strap round your arm to tell some ass wipe to pull his weight for the team you need big round hairy balls and sorry to say most of our squad lack these

Bollocks bollocks bollocks bollock bollock bollocks, all this 'character' nonsense is just an easy song to sing when things aren't going quite right when the real issue is always more complicated, all based on facial expressions and guesswork. It's a cliche, nothing more. The last two years Daws got away with murder because he shouted a bit after he fell on his arse for the thirteenth time that month while staring into a floodlight instead of tracking someone. Kaboul doesn't have a problem with passion, he has a problem with brain farts and occasionally not understanding where his own feet are.

Do you know what's more important when it comes to playing football matches? Being good at football, add in a base level of commitment (of which 99% of professional players manage) and you can win all of your games!! Yay! If you want commitment, try greyhound racing, they're bloody mad for catching that rabbit, shit when it comes to implementing a decent offside trap though. I'll take an entire team of Berbatovs over a team of David Batty's, because i like football, not round ball floor rugby.

Or something, i dunno, it's late, I'm in a grump, it's all your fault.
Floor rugby?

what about putting Chadli up alongside Kane and finding a winger from our youth team?? Bobby has had his chances for me!

with a DM protecting the defence (at the expense of Soldado) id be quite happy to see that team take the field.

I like it but isn't that risky as fuck what if no real leaders stepped forward, we would be fucked
